A Tribute

Post by DOUGHBOYS » Thu Sep 26, 2013 5:04 pm

We're baseball fans. We argue over who can do something better.
Who was better Ruth or Bonds?
Who was better Williams or DiMaggio?
Who was better Mays or Mantle?
Who was better Koufax or Gibson?

We'll argue over teams, defense, Managing, umpiring, even commisionering.
Why does the All Star game decide home field for the World Series?
Why did he call that guy safe to take away a perfect game?
Why didn't he catch that?
Why isn't my team in first place?

It's the game.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
And every baseball fan has a different set of eyes.
Two Yankees fans will agree more often than not.
Same with Red Sox fans.
But watch the opinions differ when a Sox fan sits next to a Yanks fan.

We're baseball fans. We argue over who can do something better.
Now, there is one thing that cannot be argued.
One thing that'll be agreed upon by all.
Baseball has 500 best hitters. Just ask their fans.
Baseball has 300 best pitchers. Just ask their fans.
Baseball has one best Closer. Just ask any fan.

A Tribute to Mariano Rivera
On my tombstone-
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!

Very true Dan. Nice work.

Some of my best memories will be the times I was at the Stadium and the bullpen doors opened to Enter Sandman.
I can't explain the thrill. Chills.

I was at Fenway a couple of years ago with my daughter and we were lucky enough to be at a game that Mariano entered. I hope my daughter remembers that. Not quite the same as the home crowd...but still..
She was 10years old .

My girlfriend has a 16 year old daughter that is a huge out-of-state Yankee fan. I've taken her to the stadium for a tour. She was thrilled. My only regret was that I couldn't get her to a game while Mariano was still active. Pity.
