Not trying to be sarcastic here. Does it have to be such a high entry fee that it limits the participation of most, including new players? Or does that make it less enjoyable for the few that can afford that entry?Greg Ambrosius wrote:The Razorbacks are on the list for both Ultimate Auctions!!Texas Connection wrote:Sign Stadtmueller/Honeycutt combo up for both Ultimate Auctions. How about a Super Auction 1st weekend? How about a 20 team draft league the Thursday before the 2nd weekend action to kick off the 2nd weekend? Again I would like to humbly suggest 3rd round reversal for all draft formats. Lets even out the kds options a little bit. Jon![]()
In football we have a very unique Kickoff Gridiron that KJ devised and we host that draft before the NFL Viewing Party up in our Executive Suite. It's the perfect kickoff to the football season. I'm all for creating something special on Thursday at noon before the NCAA Viewing Party and giving folks a reason to come in early and start the Second Weekend off right. Maybe that's a Super Auction that is included in the NFBC Auction Championship. Maybe it's your crazy 20-team draft. Maybe it's a 15-team Diamond Gridiron like KJ ran for football where you bid actual dollars on the first two rounds. I don't know what it is, but I agree with you that we should look at the First Weekend to have a special event (maybe it's a Super Auction and I'm all for that) and then let's have something early Thursday to entice folks to come in early before the fun begins. I'm with you on all of the suggestions above Jon.
Any thoughts from others?

No problem...I think you will find several options.Fourslot40 wrote:Thank you.poopytooth wrote:They have leagues that start under $200...shindig for everyone. Look for satellite league offerings and welcome!
The leagues are a lot of fun.
I'm not sure if you played last year but the draft champions are a nixe way to get started.

John, if you're talking about the Thursday Viewing Party, yeah it can be at a lesser entry level. We can host that upstairs in our suite and have some fun up there before the NCAA games start. I'm up for anything as we have a great boardroom to host a draft within the suite. You guys come up with the idea and we'll make it happen. Should be fun.Fourslot40 wrote:Not trying to be sarcastic here. Does it have to be such a high entry fee that it limits the participation of most, including new players? Re: 2014 NFBC Diamonds, Ultimates & Supers
Just a heads up that I haven't forgotten about the NFBC Diamond Leagues or the potential startup of the NFBC Platinum League. I did email all 30 NFBC Diamond League owners from last year to get their feedback on 2014 and as you can see from the signup list on the first post most of the Sunday Diamond League teams are back as expected and there's already a good group committing to the Saturday Diamond League. We'll talk about both leagues and formats early next week when I have the time to do this right.
Among the 30 Diamond League owners, there were 5-6 who inquired about a $20,000 Platinum League. There's no perfect date for that, but it does seem like Saturday night or Sunday morning when we already have the Diamonds has been requested. Some folks actually said they would add a Diamond to a Platinum, whereas some owners would only do the Platinum. So we need to have this discussion without hijacking or killing the Diamond Leagues next week. I haven't done a prize format for that yet, so give me a bit there as well. But there is interest here.
Most of the Sunday Diamond League owners who responded said they liked the current prize payout format. There continues to be discussions on how to possibly create a $100,000 league prize here and we can discuss that as well. Getting rid of 4th place prize money is one step for one of these leagues. Another suggestion was to create a Diamond at $12,000 per team, easily turning first place into $100,000. I promise to discuss all of that early next week, but unfortunately I have to run to a high school football game now where Iola is one game away from the state finals. Things don't look good for tonight, but the whole town (all 1,301 of us) is behind the Thunderbirds tonight!!
Gotta run. Thanks all for the interest in these great private high-stakes leagues. Oh, and in football the NFFC Diamond League was broadcast live by SiriusXM Fantasy Sports Radio and the goal is to get them back to Las Vegas for baseball as well. I promise to keep talking with them this year about that. This league -- or leagues -- deserves that kind of attention.

I know that you have a TON on your plate right now, mostly because I helped dump it there.
