2014 Draft Champions Slow Draft Leagues

Post by Deadheadz » Mon Oct 28, 2013 9:14 am

I'm reading the info for last season's contests and being new to NFBC it leaves me with a question:

Are the Overall prizes listed for ALL the DC leagues despite the size of the entry fee or are there going to be separate overall prizes for each of the $150, $400, and $1000 price points? I read through the rules for DC but didn't see it spelled out so I'm really not sure.

If it's all the leagues combined I can see how spending $900 on six entries might be more attractive than spending $1000 on just one.

Really looking forward to these slow draft leagues.

Cheers!

I think that it would be interesting to see net winnings.

Another slow draft question:

You get up to 8 hours to make your pick, so is it a 24/7 running clock or does it pause for a period overnight?

I was in a slow draft on CBS in 2010 with 6 hour picks but the clock paused from midnight til 6am ET everyday - you could still make picks but the countdown didn't start moving again until 6am.

Can't hardly wait...

Runs 24 7 the team you draft is your team for the year. Football is the beat format you don't even do your line-up.

The 8 hours is there for a comfort cushion for each player to use the time as needed. Not to be taken advantage of or abused. If you need the 8 use it but dont hold the rest of the drafters hostage. If everybody used their entire 8 hours the draft would take 120 hrs per round = 5 days /or 6000 hours =250 days.

The point of my question was to find out if there are three guys to pick ahead of me when I go to bed at night and they all make their picks within 10 minutes, am I not going to be able to get a full night's rest because I'll have to check if it's my turn before 8 hours elapses.

I wasn't implying I want to milk every minute out of my turn each time it comes around.

Yes, you would be on the clock in that instance. However there is a function called "auto one round". You set your queue and your top player will be selected. You will only be on auto pick for that round. After that selection you will be off auto pick. There is nothing to worry about, nothing crazy will happen. It's a huge convienence and your league mates will love you!

I was going to create a signup list this week, but since these leagues form with the first 15 signups we'll just wait until Registration officially goes live. That will happen shortly after the World Series. Then we can start forming Draft Champions Leagues and actually get ready for some drafts before Thanksgiving. That will be a fun way to enjoy the off-season. These are a lot of fun and nothing prepares you for the deep player pool better than a Draft Champions League.

From what I heard on a podcast today, there's already a DC league drafting

Apparently it started Nov 2 and by 10pm Sunday was through 23 rounds. They didn't say but I'm assuming it's an email draft where the results will be put online later on.

The source of this information was Tim McLeod speaking on the Prospects 361 podcast (formerly FP911).

We're getting there. First thing we have to get live is Registration and all of the contest pages. We're close on that. Then we can start taking signups and form Draft Champions Leagues. We're shooting for a mid-November start to the Draft Champions Leagues. Hang on, we're almost there.
