It must be the fact that we posted the leagues on the Message Boards that has everyone all excited about the NFBC because we now have several last minute requests to get in. That is one of the reasons I haven't picked the partial league yet as I need to sort this out. I hope everyone understands this dilemma and can be patient with me. I will not do ANYTHING to challenge the integrity of the league, but please give me another day to call all of these leads to see if there is enough interest for a 13th league.

We are halfway there. We'll give it one more day and then move on with life. I'm flying to Las Vegas first thing tomorrow morning and everyone else is flying out on Wednesday or Thursday to the different cities. Plus we have 15 people who have already signed up, seen their peers get draft picks and need time to prepare for their drafts, so we can't delay much further. I'm just trying to take care of everyone's needs and if it works it works. But we are more than halfway to 15 and I'm giving everyone one last chance. I'll check the Boards and my e-mails tonight after I get back from seeing my daughter and we'll go from there. If anyone has ANY interest at all, contact me via e-mail or call Rocky Landsverk at 715-445-4612, ext. 238 by tomorrow night. We have eight on the bubble right now!!!

I apologize but I was out of the office tonight. We are getting closer to a 13th league and that is why I am holding off. I'd love to give you your draft positions, but next time don't wait so late to sign up!!! Not only that, but I'd rather announce draft positions for two new leagues rather than one and we may be able to do that by tomorrow night or Wednesday morning at the latest. Please hold tight as this is VERY important. I apologize for the agony and the delay in preparing for your certain draft pick, but I hope all of you will understand.
Here are the 15 guys who are definitely in the NFBC and just waiting to see if they're competing against each other or mixed in with 15 other guys:
John Piontek
Jeff Price
Robert Mauri
Chris Deffendall
Dave Cushard
Howard Markowitz
Greg Glukhovsky
Shane Pullen
Jim Ruland
Edgar LaTorre
Edward Mick
Rob Conti
Brant Goldsmith
Michael Warren
Charles Cart
Thanks for your patience.

Next year you better join early to get in!!! I can tell you that we're even closer now to that 13th league, so please hang tight everyone. All those New Yorkers and people already in Vegas for the NCAA tournament like to wait and wait and wait. And I'm willing to wait one more day for them, so hang tight.
You will still have plenty of time to prepare for your draft spot. I know you want to see your draft spot as soon as possible, but those final leagues will be posted soon enough. Thanks and hang tight.

If you're referring to my entry, that is. If there's someone else on the list you know then I have no clue past what happened to me!

I suppose that's a plausible explanation. Not that I suspected foul play or anything--just seemed strange to me that one of the Founding Fathers (
) wound up with the Mix 'n Match Gang.

KofQ - email me if you want... I'll send you the emails between me and Greg which starts off with me saying, "UM... Greg... where am I??"
Then I'll forward you the one from my co-manager who writes something to the effect of, "You DID pay for the entry didn't you!!?!?!??!?!"
My blood pressure cooled off a bit as soon as I found out there was a league lurking yet and I was definitely in it.

Guys,
Does anyone else have an issue with waiting so long for this 13th league? Playing Devils advocate suppose the last 4 or 5 guys that joines league 13 are buddies, they can now manipulate the draft to a certain extent which may assure or at least enhance the chances of the overall champ coming from league 13.
I thought the DEADLINE was Sunday midnight it's now Tuesday noon and were still waiting for the close out.
I understand Krause wants as many leagues as possible in order to keep prizes where they were advertised to be however I think the intergrity has taken a slight hit here.
Again, just playing Devils advocate but I think this league should be closed out.

Even if 4 or 5 guys try to collude there isn’t much to be concerned about. As long as there are 3 or 4 honest entrants in the last league then the hypothetical collusion group would have a difficult time pulling it off, plus they would have to throw down $5K to do it, with no guarantees.
Also I’m sure if Krause sees a string of picks in the early rounds of say David Ross, Eddie Perez and the board’s favorite guy Ramon Castro then they will simply void the last league.

Stop saying we signed up late...I was in before the Sunday deadline. (Not sure why we are being "punished") We want the draft order already for the 12th league. Please post it before the 13th league is done, we need it for preparation. You said yesterday that you would post it today, wondering what time you are expecting to do so

Everyone, Greg's out in Vegas, but rest assured we are keeping very close track of this final league that we are hoping to fill. And we plan to have a resolution very soon. This will not drag on and the final league will not comprised of friends trying to undermine the credibility of this league. We're working very hard and being very diligent and the last thing we would ever do is put ourselves in a position to jeopardize the integrity of this event.
Hope this helps.

in the beginning before i knew the draft orders would be drawn randomly rather than filling and closing out one league at a time i thought to myself how easily the overall standings could be manipulated if a group of friends got into the same league and then drafted and managed accordingly to swing one team to the top. it wouldn't take much to accomplish that, so i too am uneasy about this looming 13th league that is not yet full. don't take this as an assault on anyones integrity because i truly do not believe that anyone at the nfbc's management is trying to do anything shady, but what i do not trust is the people that took this long to sign up for this contest and form a league together after sign-ups had closed and leagues were formed.

Have a little faith in your common man. I've already recommended to Rocky and the gang that they draw the #12 and #13 leagues (I truly believe there will be a #13 league) and then they should shuffle up the leagues a bit. Keeping ALL PICKS THE SAME as were originally drawn, but mixing in the last signups to the existing leagues in all cities. Would anyone have a problem with being in league #2 instead of league #3, etc. ?
I think this is the fair way to do it and makes everyone feel like it's on the up and up.
I understand it was a simple clerical error in putting my entry (#23 paid entry) into the AL auction league, but I'll be damned if I want to have appearances after my partner and I won the $100k by some fluke.
I say let's get the leagues drawn up later tonight when they are finalized and then let's take all the #1 picks and draw them from a hat to see what league they are in.... then randomize the #2 picks into leagues, etc.
No harm/No foul, right?
Dave

Rocky here, speaking for Greg. The existence of the 13th league is because it was half-full at the deadline, and it makes the most sense to try to fill it. These weren't late sign-ups; they made the deadline. We are almost done filling that 13th league.
The reason for the delay in league 12 is because it hinges on the development of league 13 (which is a few hours from being full). For instance, we currently have two Chicago people in league 12 and one in league 13, which would be a pain for all involved, rather than putting them all in one teleconference. But we can't do that yet, until we know there will definitely be a league 13.
Regarding the concern about collusion, people who know each other and groups of entrants from the same cliques are being split up as much as possible, and without exception have requested that. There won't be players trying to sandbag it and the lateness of league 13 isn't because of disreputable entrants trying to sneak in and fill up league 13. some of the late signups will likely be moved to league 12 anyway; we are constantly monitoring that.
To recap, the late development of the 13th league is due to legitimate pre-deadline signups and wanting to fill that half-league rather than turning them away. The delay in league 12's composition is for simple logistical reasons that occur when you have two teleconferences from three cities, and you're splitting up players from the same cliques as you go. Everything will be done tonight, and even if it's very late and you don't want to stay up (which I wouldn't, Greg's in Vegas), on Wednesday morning -- three full days before the draft -- all 13 leagues and all 195 spots will be nailed down with specificity.

It seems that our friend Gekko is either to embarassed to tell everyone what league he is part of or he is afraid to do so after all his BS the last few months. Come on Gekko step up and be counted, don't make them hunt you down! Or maybe he was one of those message board stalkers and he really did not pony up the $?
