Mikey and the Teeth Gritters

Post by DOUGHBOYS » Mon Nov 11, 2013 12:17 pm

I'm going to stay out of the talk in how to make the NFBC a better place.
It seems like most ideas want to take more money out of my pocket. I know that few want to admit that a hundred dollars here or there hurts, but I'll readily admit that it does.
Doritos costs more and their bags are getting smaller. Sometimes, I'll buy a lesser priced product in protest.
I suspect this would be like me jumping to another contest if my dollar felt bullied by the NFBC.
But Doritos has taught me a lesson. No other chip compares for me. In that way, it is like the NFBC. Although I may throw my hands up in protest or try another contest, dammit, I'll always come back to Doritos and the NFBC.

We all have failings. Some would call me a cheap sombitch. Some may call Mikey a Big Mouth. Some may call Greg an overpromiser.
And these people would probably all be correct. It is who we are, whether we like it or not.
I don't agree with most of Mikey's ideas. Mostly because our incomes are as far apart as Roseanne Barr and Jennifer Anniston are on a beauty scale.
At the same time, there is nobody that comes across as more passionate and honest as Mikey does on these Boards.
And there is nobody else that comes close to a 'Must read' post as when Mikey posts.
We know those posts are going to be honest and that they may hurt people. If hurting folks, it is collateral damage to the point he is trying to make.
Mike wants what is best for the NFBC....through his eyes.

It is with that same passion that Greg overpromises. He WANTS things to happen sooner than they will. He knows that he has hundreds, now thousands of folks waiting. He wants to give everybody the best possible news possible.
And he'll intimate that the draft room will open after the World Series, which to most, means around November 1.
Then it becomes later than that, etc.
It's hard to fault. He wants to deliver. But there is a myriad of things to do before a draft room can be opened.
Still, he wants what we want. And he'll try hard to get that room open as soon as possible, but no matter what, it'll never be the date hoped.

Mikey and Greg are a lot alike. In wanting the best for the NFBC, they have folks either doing this
Or this
Or this :D
Or this :o
That last one being solely from Mikey.
Mikey is the NFL coach on the sidelines, red-faced from yelling at Greg the referee so much. And he is so sure that he is right, he wants to invite Greg the referee to lunch and have an hour long talk about how things can be done better on the football field.
This lunch turns out to be a good idea. In the talks, Greg the referee realizes that maybe a sameness to his refereeing style has made his game a little weak. And also, Mikey the coach may realize the constraints that Greg the referee has in upholding a game that is already enjoyed by many.
In the end, some changes will be made and good ideas even came from the owner of the restaurant (KJ) about how to make the game better too.
A good lunch and one that'll be beneficial for the overall game.

Most on these Message Boards are teeth gritters. With ANY news, they will grit their teeth and bear the news.
Most will not write a word.
If teeth gritters thought that they'd be drafting shortly after the World Series, they grit their teeth.
If they think I am impeding NFBC growth by being a tightwad, they grit their teeth.
If they think that Mike is trying for too much, too fast, they grit their teeth.

Mikey is not a teeth gritter.
Far from it.
He wants results. He wants change. He wants to make things better.
Personally, I think he needs to make up statistics in his posts.
For example, after wearing down friends at a tail gate party for two hours in how things should be, they'll give in, agreeing with him in an effort for him to move on.
He could say that 100% of NFBC customers I know agree with me!
But that's not his style.
I don't agree with anything that has to do with paying more money for our contests so I am a lost cause in some/most of his ideas, but dammit, I love the passion and honesty that exudes from his posts when talking about those ideas.
He's of sound mind (except when drafting) and just wants to be heard and any time he wants to talk, vent or rant, he has my ear.
And I'll bet the teeth gritters love listening to him too.
On my tombstone-
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!
