Live Chats

Post by poopytooth » Sun Nov 17, 2013 8:48 am

Greg/Tom,

I am not rushing...just asking...when do the live chats begin? They are always fun and even when I miss them, I like going back and reading all the q&a's. They really help to spur some great discussions. I know it is early, but just trying to remember when they begin.

In the meantime...here is one...last year, Chris Davis and Yu Darvish outperformed expectations. What methods do you use to help identify these types of breakouts and could you give us a couple names for 2014? ;)

I don't think Darvish outperformed expectations.

The real question is: Did Dobies outperform his skill set?

you are right but didn't see the K total as large as it ended up being. I think he was a top 5 SP...maybe top 10...not sure he was there at draft time for everyone. For those who did though, what did you see that others, like myself, missed.

You can't predict a surprise or outlier - if you could they wouldn't be a surprise.

All you can do is look for someone that

if **THIS** goes right, **THIS** can happen.

You're not predicting it WILL happen, but looking for some plausible outcome.

IF Chris Davis can hit more fly balls (his FB% was 36%, very low for a power hitter) he can hit 45+ HR.

Basically, you're looking to give yourself a reasonable chance to be right.

It's projection time -- I celebrated finishing them with a Tweet/FB one-liner.

Projections are ready today. 2013 subscriptions run through Nov 30 so I can't post the link on the site but those that have paid for the 2014 subscription and NFBC Primer contributors will get an e-mail with the link once the caffeine kicks in and I'm sure I'm not screwing up.

Wow, we've never had a request for Live Chats before!! :o We're honored.

Sure, we can start one up this week once we have DCs rolling. If folks have questions about the upcoming season we'll gladly answer them in one spot for all to see. Anything that helps folks better understand what's ahead of us is good for everyone. We're just doing all we can behind the scenes to get the DCs rolling and the season started. Thanks for the request.
