2014 NFBC $150 Draft Champions League 001

Post by Deadheadz » Sun Nov 17, 2013 10:33 am

Here's a thread for those interested in discussing this league.

First topic?
Have you played or won a DC league on NFBC before?

This is my first ever NFBC slow draft. I've done a slow draft on FSRU but that was only 29 rounds if I recall correctly.
The DC here looks a lot more challenging.

Cheers!

Yes, played in a several in the last 3 years, won a couple. Played in the live NFBC events too with moderate success. DCs are fun and I like the early ones as it gets you attuned to the player pool and is good preparation for Main Event and the other live contests. Have fun and thanks for starting the thread.

Greetings! Yes and yes. They are a lot of fun and challenging. A great format. I've done drafts before with several folks in our league, and we should have a good group of owners. Here's hoping we get to start on Tuesday.

Looking forward to more discussion here and/or the league message board.

hi, I have been a member for 3 seasons, both football and baseball. I like doing between 2 and 4 dc per season. you get a heads up on the players and get to know the members. then I do a few others types of drafts. the only live draft was an auction two season ago.
ps. anyone going to take phone numbers for this league.

Love to see the enthusiasm Deadheadz! I've also played in many of these and won a couple. These early ones are my favorite because there is little-to-no ADP data to work off of, and everyone is drafting based on their own projections and personal rankings. Can't wait to get started!

Here's a question for the members of this league:

I'm not sure if and when our draft results are made public to the rest of NFBC but I'm curious whether we would want to publish our results round by round in this thread or the General Discussion Forum to spur conversation and/or give others an idea of a really subjective early ADP.

There could be those of us who don't want others to see our strategy, I suppose but if everyone is cool with it I'd be willing to take on the task of updating the public list of players drafted in our league. If not, it's no big deal. Just another way to stay involved.

I realize not everyone in the league necessarily goes onto the message board so we'd have to take a poll during the draft to see what the consensus would be. Does it need to be unanimous? Probably.

Comments?

Once the DC league drafts have been rolling for awhile, Greg will post some of the results on the main message board. Typically, he will wait until multiple drafts are ongoing so it is not possible to tell which league's picks are being shown. He will list the picks for the first six rounds without the names of the owners so it is not possible to tell who is picking who.

I think that is the better way to go. I'm not sure folks in this league would want their picks publicized in a way that others can tell who they drafted. While every draft is different and I'm a little skeptical about the need for extreme secrecy, given that this is the first DC draft and probably all or most our league will be doing other DC leagues, it probably is safer just to let Greg publish the first six rounds at some later date, without identifying the leagues or the owners associated with the picks.

If everyone in the league wants their picks publicized as you suggest, I wouldn't stand in the way. On the other hand, if anyone really objects, I think you should abandon the idea.

Now, if we only could get started ....

I have no problem in you posting your picks, but since this is the first draft I would rather not have my picks posted.
