I won't sign up for a league with an anonymous owner. I think it's ridiculous. You should know the owners you are signing up to play.

I'm not a fan of Anonymous team.. I think it's a shady tool.. if a team has to be anonymous, then make every team have that special tag.. it's just my oppionion, I have always been surprised that this is allowed... it clearly favors certain ppl...blah!

Clearly there are two opinions. One opinion is it is okay to be anonymous. Opinion number two is that it is offensive to remain anonymous. I guess the real question is which way would cost the NFBC the most sign ups. In my opinion, anyone who signs up anonymously would still sign up under their real name if required to. And the NFBC would not run the risk of scaring off new customers.

Assigning a number?
These drafts are supposed to be fun. If we wanted impersonal drafts, we'd get on a huge site like Yahoo or ESPN, WHERE WE MAY AS WELL BE A NUMBER.
I could give a rat's ass if a few people want to be anonymous. I don't care their reasons either. But, if caring so much about it that some want to turn us from names to numbers, then we will have lost something here at the NFBC.
no one is saying you couldnt chat and have "personal interaction". if you wanted to volunteer your name, number, etc... by all means go ahead. i don't get any satifaction knowing "what neck of the woods" someone is from!!! LOL!!!!

When the first pitch flies then the owner names and team names appear. It makes it simple, it makes it fair, it makes it a non pain in the ass situation. No owners that think their picks are better have to worry about protecting themselves, and no owners have to worry about going up against such players. Everyone on even ground. Nobody knows who picked anyone. This should be implemented in all online drafts IMO.
chad - seeing how you are likely one of the top (if not THE top) fantasy football payer in the world, i can certainly understand the benefit of hiding your picks from others. if the majority of owners aren't gleaning information from your drafts, they are liars. same goes for baseball. the Sheeple will always try to rip off the Innovators.

NAH!
Instead of trying to change all of us to being Anonymous. Why don't you and Chad just start leagues using numbers?
Good luck! Let me know how it turns out.

Making your way in the world today takes everything you've got.
Taking a break from all your worries, sure would help a lot.

Wouldn't you like to get away?

Sometimes you want to go

Where everybody knows your NUMBER,
and they're always glad you came.
You wanna be where you can see,
our troubles are all the same
You wanna be where everybody knows
Your NUMBER.

You wanna go where people know,
people are all the same,
You wanna go where everybody knows
your NUMBER.
On my tombstone-
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!

I like to know the owners in the league before I sign up because I don't want to be in a league with owners who have an absurd amount of teams. I love the draft champions format, but I have a life and would like to compete. Being in a league with owners who apparently do nothing but fantasy baseball and sleep takes the fun of it for me.

For the record, I didn't think my 5 teams was absurd last year. My wife might have another opinion though. ;)

I don't care about others picks, but we should know who we are playing against...it's clarity...not mystery.. it's my sign up money. I should be protected too. I want to know who I'm drafting against...I think I should have the right..

Mark, I love to know who your picks are, Makes bidding you up in the Auction that much easier???????LOL

If You see Anonymous signed up for any league, just figure that it's Mark and you will be right 90% of the time.

I forgot about the chatting dynamic in slow drafts. I don't play those after some miserable experiences a few years ago, so that dynamic escaped me. There is very little chatter going on in the online championship anyway, and chatter could still go on. But if we are allowed to be anonymous, and people prefer that only some take advantage of it, then I will probably go anonymous in all drafts from here on out. No good reason not to if others are. Thus the preference that everyone is if some are.

Parnelli, my response is on Page 1 of this same thread:

Guys, when each of you sign up for an NFBC event, you register your contact info and there is a box there that says Display Name. It's right there for everyone to post their display name for the league, for the national standings, etc. It's automated to show up what the user has entered there.

We have been through this before: Some owners right now are using Anonymous for business purposes, for family reasons and yes to not showcase their every pick. If you think anyone under Anonymous has an advantage because of this, please avoid that league. We are filling these up one a day and we don't have a lot of Anonymous owners so far. I especially don't think anyone is going as Anonymous now to scout others' picks in December, so that's not a concern. As we get closer to March we'll ask people to show their names in those final drafts so that there isn't any perception of scouting others.

Again, STATS isn't hiding anything; everyone has the ability to put their Display Name into every signup and it shows up under League, Owner's List along with emails. Good luck all and let's keep this great format rolling.

If you're in DC 29 one of the bogus names belongs to the team named "Blame it on my ADP, baby..."

and that would be me, Deadheadz. But I also don't see any Parnelli in that league so maybe you're not in DC 29.

That or you're using a bogus name here...
