NFBC BaseballHQ.com Column On Masahiro Tanaka

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Tue Jan 07, 2014 9:57 am

We're glad to have the opportunity to write a weekly NFBC column for BaseballHQ.com again this year and be part of the USA Today family. This week's column is based on Masahiro Tanaka and his recent draft status in the NFBC. I also talk about pitching in NFBC drafts compared to industry drafts. Enjoy.

We hope that we reach a new audience of potential NFBC players with these columns, while even giving a little insight to our drafts to our own audience of players. Good luck all.

Good article Greg. I wonder why pitching appears to being valued even more this year, especially early? I would think that declining offensive production across MLB would make the top hitters more in demand. It will be interesting to follow the trends as we get closer to the big draft days.

Is pitching being valued more this year? I don't think so. Based upon the NFBC player ratings for the past 3 years 14-15 pitchers have been in the top 50 at year's end. Most draft's I've seen so far this year have between 10 and 15 pitchers going in the top 50. Pitching doesn't look overvalued to me so far.
