THink Lowry would be heart broke if I did that. Really was looking at a $11 1b so I would think that is way over doughy budget but fits well with mine. Think Hamilton should be the pick for team 2.

Well, I declare, Ken!
How can y'all turn your back on a nice southern boy like 'Cool Ranch'? He hails from Mississippi. SEC Country!
Instead, you'd rather court a guy from Wilmington, Delaware? Delaware? That's Yankee country!
One of the original 13 colonies.
The only thing they make in Delaware is banks and credit cards!
We don't have it in our hearts to take a southern boy like 'Cool Ranch from y'all.
It just wouldn't be fittin'.
On my tombstone-
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!

I admittedly don't know the rules of your league or the strategy. This certainly is the most entertaining thread of the season so far. BUT NO MATTER WHAT STRATEGY YOU EMPLOY, PASSING ON MIGUEL CABRERA IS A MISTAKE.
Go the cheap route from round 2 on. You get a guy who will be eligible at both corner positions and I would think that gives you flexibility later on in your spending for corners because you have multiple options.
This is all a smoke screen, nobody will let this guy drop. This guy is the epitome of a fantasy baseball team foundation personified. Year in year out the numbers are there, until there not…..
TAKE THE SURE THING!!!

Unfortunately, I'd have to agree Joe.
So with "Cool Ranch" Hamilton going #2 and Miggy #3, I'm at a total loss at who I should take at #4.

Glenn,
I think Alex Rodriguez would be an excellent choice to build the foundation for your 2014 squad.

Not an awful choice Matt, but doesn't fit my single digit cost only rule.

For some reason Glenn, I think you already have that figured out.

Joe,
If your drafting first, and had to pay real money for each player, would you...
1) Draft Miggy for $220
2) Draft Trout for $5
3) Draft 'Cool Ranch' for $5
4) Draft Goldschmidt for $11
5) Grab a bag of Cool Ranch, and say 'forget it! What a screwy way to draft!'
On my tombstone-
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!

team 1 sitting and laughing at all of us
team 2 already in the house with their pick
team 3 wanting the speedster but doesnt know how to let Miggy slip by him
team 4 thinking of a start out of the 4 hole with miggy(game over if he drops to four) he already has visions of him and Miggy celebrating at years end
Team 15 wondering which 2 players to spend $500 on at the turn
....

The obvious answer is number 2, can't argue with that one.
My second choice would be number 5 but I'd grab the nacho cheese variety.

You need to throw fiscal responsibility out the window with the second pick. I think I now understand the thought process, but damn it guys you'll have to spend some money at some point. So what, you blow your budget early.

See but that's where you're wrong Joe. In this game, there's two ways to win. Finish on top, which is the game we all know.
Or finish with the best "cost to finish ratio"...thus being named MOY (Manager of the Year). Cost consciousness is the key there. Some play the first game only, some the second, others like myself plan to win both pots.

We are playing to win ,we are just doing it the tampa and oakland way.
Besides if we blow all our money early then we wont be able to afford any $5 guys with picks 19-23.
Can we get 5 placeholders with no players names attached to the draft picks for $0?

Absolutely not, but you're welcome to accidentally spend a 20 spot on career minor leaguers.

KJ -will there be a Faab period prior to the opening game of the season? Very important to know this ahead of time, as that could impact owners draft plans regarding drafting of prospects

One live FAAB right after the draft. Thereafter, same schedule as other NFBC leagues.

One live FAAB right after the draft is best described as one live session spending FAAB money like Fleming at Spearmint Rhino right after the draft.

I think Alan was left with about $1 of remaining FAAB for the rest of the season last year after paying the vig on Trout pre-draft and most of the balance of his FAAB on Burnett during the live FAAB post-draft. Always a fun component to these MLBC experiences.
PS....Anyone change their mind and want to start the draft tonight? I'm ready to spend on my first $5 choice.

Lowry, who you trying to kid on spending $5 on first pick. Just don't see you letting Fleming get Miggy. Im sure it will be $220 well spent. Really don't see how Dan and Rog past on Hamilton either but I guess they might make that mistake too.

Mark my words Champ. 30 players x $5/per player = $150 total spent by Glenneration X on the 2014 MLBC.
The only question I have in my mind is how much of your $50K cut on last year's Main Event winnings you plan on spending here. If I was a betting man, I'd guess no more than $49K....give or take a couple bucks or two.
