I didn't know this but I think its essentially impossible. Some team (probably multiple teams) would sure make a push in any category that was winnable for them to make sure this didn't happen. Any teams that had a shot at cashing especiallyGekko wrote:If a high money team scores 150 league points, they win the MOY money as well. Hamilton makes this dream possible for a big money franchise. I'm pretty sure last year I didn't start my heavy spending until like Round 8 or 9. Pretty disciplined if you ask me.KJ Duke wrote:I'll have a Pittsburgh payroll, so it looks like the top three are virtually guaranteed money while 10 battle for MOY ... at least until round 3 when Lowy runs out of $5 dollar players he likes and decides to spend a $180.Glenneration X wrote:I know I wasn't the one asked, but this is the way I see the breakdown:
The Definite George Steinbrenner teams:
- Fleming
- Greenberg/Dobies
- Matt Anderson
The Definite Billy Beane teams:
- Rog/Doughy
- Rockit
- Childs
- Shovein
- Fearon
- Lowy
The Wildcards (with my guess in parenthesis on where they'll fall):
- KJ (Steinbrenner)
- Pucci (Middle of the pack)
- Cohan (Middle of the pack)
- Pausma/Gekko (Beane)
- Norred (Beane)
- Weber (Beane)

This year though, I'm with you in Pittsburgh-land.
It looks like it's easy money for the Fleming's, GreenDobieberg's, and Ando's of the world. Maybe they'll realize they won't have to spend as much since there will be no competition for the top 3 spots.

Re: The Contract League 2014 (MLBC) - SOLD OUT
Truly, I think a 'medium' team would have the only chance of winning both first place and MOY.
On my tombstone-

Agreed. The problem with that is they have a much worse chance of a top 3 finish then the high teams and a much worse chance of MoY then the low teams. In my opinion, anywaysDOUGHBOYS wrote:Truly, I think a 'medium' team would have the only chance of winning both first place and MOY.

For a while there last year, Pucci looked like he might pull it off.G@mblor wrote:Agreed. Indeed. That route is not for the faint of heart

Agreed. It's as tough to cash from the middle as it is to win MOY, but aMnt a much greater investment. I guess that's why not too many play the middle, but commit one way or the other.
Man, I wish we were drafting tonight instead of just yapping on this thread.

Lowry knows in the end he's going to a high dollar team. not sure why he would even consider letting the other high rollors get the best player in the first round and play it from behind, think by sunday he will reconsider and jump on that det 1b ahead of Fleming. He's just blowing smoke up our butts now.

What you haven't taken into consideration is that I've already taken out high interest loans from both Fleming and Greenberg (at what's bordering on usery ratesBama wrote:Lowry knows in the end he's going to a high dollar team. not sure why he would even consider letting the other high rollors get the best player in the first round and play it from behind, think by sunday he will reconsider and jump on that det 1b ahead of Fleming. let's assume I DO hit the jackpot tonight, $60K in FD's King of the Court, I love to assume stuff like that
All of a sudden big fish got 1 more team. Now, thinking like a guy who's ready to drop at least $2500 on my team, I'm not taking Billy in the 1st rd.
NO WAY.
I remember the 1st time I heard of this blazing fast dude who couldn't miss. Her name was Dee

Does anyone else look forward to this draft more than any.other? Totally different approach for me this year, with a powerhouse partner. Get ready for a draft strategy that has never been.tried before. Good luck everyone!

Hmmm...my guess that means instead of spending $2800 you will double that w/JD on board and spend $5600.BK METS wrote:Does anyone else look forward to this draft more than any.other? Any predictions as to what the winning MoY score will be. Last year it was a robust 82 points.

I don't have much of a history for this event. What have been the winning ROY scores for the 30 man roster format? But, I think it could be 122.0 this yearG@mblor wrote:Any predictions as to what the winning MoY score will be. Last year it was a robust 82 points.

Re: The Contract League 2014 (MLBC) - SOLD OUT
The first year this format was introduced, the winning league scores for the MOY winner were 107 and 104.5.Gekko wrote:I don't have much of a history for this event. This was in an era where nearly every team tried a balanced approach, and before the days of mass punting.
In 2011, 93 and 78 were the winning scores
In 2012, 95 and 86.5 took down the honors
Last year, 82 was enough.
This year, I'm expecting something in the range of 87-92 to be the winning total
Re: The Contract League 2014 (MLBC) - SOLD OUT
No doubt! It's round 4......Lowy looks at his first 3 pick, sees Tulo and Verlander still avail....yeah, better to make the jump now than later....kaboom.Bama wrote:Lowry knows in the end he's going to a high dollar team. not sure why he would even consider letting the other high rollors get the best player in the first round and play it from behind, think by sunday he will reconsider and jump on that det 1b ahead of Fleming. Re: The Contract League 2014 (MLBC) - SOLD OUT
It is dependent on the number of high teams and even on the amount of money they choose to spend. After the high dollar shootout last year you will recall I thought even high 70's had a shot.Likewhat17 wrote:The first year this format was introduced, the winning league scores for the MOY winner were 107 and 104.5.Gekko wrote:I don't have much of a history for this event. There are no other drafts, at least none for me.
In case anyone was wondering I did NOT win the $60K jackpot last night

So it looks like I'm ALL IN on MOY
