Draft Chamions Roster Construction

Post by carlgoetz5 » Tue Feb 04, 2014 4:02 pm

Does anybody have a recommendation on how many catchers you need? I'm planning 4, but am concerned I should take a flyer on a fifth since I can't trade or pickup one if injuries strike.

Four is the recommended number BUT if you have one better two with multi position eligibility then you could add a fifth OR if some of your four are skectchy or not first string then maybe a handcuff would work

I'm rolling with TWO. Screw it, ya gotta rock conventional wisdom once in a while and cheat a position somewhere. I chose to cheat shitty back-up C's and god damn if I don't feel GREAT about it. Just passed up every back-up C in our DC. I do not have room for .220, 5-7 HR guys who play once a week when so many beautiful P's and OF's are still sitting out there. We shall see. Then, again, I'm dumb. Construct your roster the way you see fit, no right or wrong answers, son.

Just say NO to back-up C's. You'll feel much better about yourself!

I'm playing Mauer at 1B, Posey at CI, Santana at DH until he gets 3B eligible, they all back up my catchers Gattis and Pierzinski.

No bench catchers tho. Too big a waste.

Did I mention this is my first year doing DCs? ;)

Call it what you want but you drafted five catchers ... still I love the lineup/roster flexibility

Using this roster construction you are starting in a 9 HR, 9 SB, 48 Run, 48 RBI and 2-3 points of BA hole as compared to the rest of the league.

Drafting Mauer, Santana, and Posey to play first base is the equivalent to winning one night with Kate Upton anything goes and asking her to cook and clean.

Holy crap! A Kent Stermon sighting! How are you pal? :D
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

I am good. Try to watch the boards but obviously seldomly post. Doing one league this year the ultimate and have a great partner when I inevitably lose interest around May 15.

Glad everything is going well. Nice of you to partner with a rookie and show him the ropes. Teach him all the right words like "sleeper", "value", as well as who the experts are and the how great ADP's are.
