Good question/caution.
We will all be leaving the auction with a legal team. For our purposes, Bogaerts is only available at 3b, Castellanos, OF only, Olt, 3B only, Cuddyer OF only, etc., etc.
I'm sure Todd will have it 'fixed'.
Even so, when a player like that is nominated, I'll try to emphasize his positionality in chat.
Question will be if its even fixable.

I'll have workarounds either way.

WORST CASE is we see a guy with the wrong eligibility and we announce in the chat that Joe Blow (3B) is really Xander Bogaerts and we put Joe Blow up for bid as a proxy.

I'm going through looking for all the names so we can send it out previous to the actual auction.

just did a mock auction on the site. pretty smooth; however is there any way to shorten the "Waiting to Nominate" time from 30 seconds down to something more reasonable?

I'm actually going to make it longer to start then we can shorten it as we all get used to it. It won't belong before everyone gets it and it takes 10 secs

damn, missed getting in on the mock; can we just go and look at it somehow; BTW, 10 sec to nominate is a bit quick. We all know Gekko is quick as lightning, but not all of us.

TWSS :P

There's another mock at 8:30ET. I'm jumping on that one to see if tablet (android) drafting is an option in case I'm having to leave the desktop.

I jumped in to the 8:30 one as well but only have my tablet handy. If that doesn't work, I'm going to bail and try on a desktop tomorrow.

We're doing another NFBC practice one Thurs at 7 PM ET if you want to be able to chat with everyone and maybe pick up a trick or two that I can show you. If you want it, send me your e-mail address and I'll invite you

I was there this evening, but I guess I didn't find the right auction. Please send me an invitation to tomorrow's practice.

10 sec would be wayyyy to quick, especially at the end of the draft. 30 sec is fine. I don't want to get stuck with an unwanted player/pitcher at the end of the draft because I can't type fast enough and it takes me 12 sec to find the guy I want.

Hi Todd! I am in the February 15th league. Might you be able to send me an invite for the mock draft today (Thursday)? Sorry, I am not on the boards as often as I would like to be. You can email me at [email protected]. Thanks! Dave

Note to those in the room last night. I've been assured by RTS that a pop-up will appear when you nominate or bid on a player you can't fit onto your team.

I asked that they put the same warning if someone nominates Francisco Liriano.

Hi Todd! Not sure I did this right on the RTS site. I joined some random draft, as I didn't see anything specific to NFBC. I assume that is fine? Also, Todd, I know you are very busy and you've already gone way out of your way to help set all this up - and much appreciated - but would you or someone else maybe consider hosting a chat somewhere so anyone interested can talk and ask questions? Seems like it wouldn't work so well on the message boards. But I WILL ask one question here. I nominated Matt Davidson for $1 and immediately thought someone would outbid me for $2 so I wanted to up my bid by $1 to $2 even though no one had yet outbid me. But it wouldn't let me. Sorry in advance. This is all new to me. Dave

You would think that we should be able to outbid ourselves - as foolish as that may sound. Dave

I'm not Todd and don't pretend to be savvy about these auctions.
I can understand why it wouldn't let you outbid yourself. It is probably something that 99 per cent of drafters would want from the site.
I'm guessing that it'll require more thought to be put into that original bid instead of automatically going for the lowest price.
But again, I'm still learning too :)

I've auctioned at RTS before.

There's often a bit of lag from the time you click on a bid and with more than one person bidding at the same time you might have to click several times to actually register a valid bid. If you could put bid yourself there would be complaints that you should have won a player for $30 instead of $31 for example.

You're allowed to nominate a player at a price above $1 to start. Beginning the bids on elite players at $25 instead of $1 would help speed up the total draft time.

Most people want a player for as low cost as possible so I'm not sure the site would see a need to outbid yourself.
Hope that helps.

The purpose of the practice was to ask questions in the chat during the practice --we're still there if you want to try to find it. It should be on your rtsports.com home page (did you get the invite?) and is called NFBC Practice 2

The guy from RTS just popped into the room to make sure all is OK. Very cool of him.

ETA: Can't invite anyone now that it is started. We'll ave a couple next week before the 15th and 19th.
