ON Line drafting Question

Do the Main event on-line drafters get to take a break after every 10 rounds or is that just for live drafters?
If not that gives the live drafters a big advantage.

Drafted both ways. Breaks are only for the live events.

I'm with Walla on this issue. The 10 min break is an advantage for main event live events. The playing field should be even. A 10 min break would be nice.

The difference is with a live draft you can find the people in the league and get them back to the draft table promptly. If you start taking breaks with online drafts people could lose Internet connections and things of that nature, creating the potential for lengthy and unnecessary delays as you try to round everyone up and get the draft started up again. The reality is there are differences between drafting live and online so while in theory it sounds nice to say we should apply all the rules equally, the reality is that isn't possible or practical. With much of what we offer there are no differences but one difference is that if you draft live you get the break after rounds 10 and 20 in baseball and if you draft online you do not. So if it's the break you're looking for, come join us live. Problem solved.

I don't like it. Those better prepared won't need it and it lends a hand to those unprepared. You've got plenty of time between picks to do the thinking.

Sometimes it helps to be able to take a step back and look at the draft board.

It was a lot easier in football this year with an improved ranking system...i spend all my time between picks updating my spreadsheet of who has been taken and when there is a run of picks it can make you feel rushed sometimes...this isn't a being prepared issue but it is a being organized issue that I need to figure out better...hopefully the ranking players option will mirror the football improvements and this will largely go away.

It's organizing your material in an efficient manner.

It is organization. I have a spreadsheet where each position has it's own tab and i have every player ranked. I also have an overall list on one tab. When a player is drafted I want to delete them from the overall tab and their position or perhaps positions tabs...i'm certainly open to organization advice

I agree and it will mirror football. We'll have this for you shortly.

As for offering advice, the best advice I have is there's no such thing as the best system. The best system is what's best for you. Everyone is wired differently.

That said, sounds like you're looking for an Excel trick -- delete from main tab and have it delete from the other tabs automatically. I know it can be done. I'd have to think about it but it can be done.

ha I'm pretty good with excel and i'm going to have to think about that...would certainly help.

I can do it using a Macro.

Can't set it up right now but it may make for a nice addition to my web site product

I agree with Dan. A 15 minute break after round 15 sounds fair.

I shouldn't have to take my laptop to the bathroom or the kitchen with me. That's a little silly.

I also agree with Matt, if your paying $1600 for a draft, and your can't come back in time then that's your problem.

Losing internet connection? That's also silly. Regardless, even if you did lose connection, i would think most drafters use a back like a phone,ipad,etc.

I think that most if not all on-line main event drafters wouldn't mind a break. This shouldn't really be an issue.
