YES! Be afraid of us NY drafters. My partner and I each finished in the bottom 1/3 in the Vegas draft held by the "competition" last year; two different teams . This year we "partnered up" and we think we learned enough to finish somewhere in the middle 1/3 this year.

Pete (and Will).

Since we are finally allowed to partake in two pleasant activities at the same time, Drinking and Drafting.

Is anyone else going to try and get their whole league snookered?

Greg, will there be waitresses to take orders during the draft? Will they be wearing those cute little Rio outfits?

If we can't have waitresses, How about you taking our orders in one of those cute Rio outfits?

Mike - Yea, that's me buddy. You gave us a run for the money in the Consolation Bowl. But as usual; the better team from Jersey won :)

Now that we've signed up (we'll be Init To Winit again) I can't wait for March 20th to arrive. I'll see you and your partner in the Big Apple in only 8 weeks and 3 days; but who's counting.

At this point we have not requested waitress service for the drafts as we don't want to interrupt the concentration of the players, especially since the list includes intellectuals like doctors, lawyers, school superintendents, musicians and actors, not to mention the Mars rover scientist. But since beer and drafting kind of go together, we thought it would be appropriate to make that available and folks could have their co-managers bring a cold one from time to time. Getting snookered isn't encouraged, unless you're sitting next to me at Lambeau Field.

No question the Rio girls have some of the best outfits in Vegas, but I must let everyone know they changed to new ones this summer. If you still have the March ones in your minds, the new ones are a letdown.

Man, I'm almost as old as you. You don't want to see me in anything revealing!! But if you tip well, I may bring back two for us.

This is the official announcement that the Vega$ Gambler$ of Leaderboard Sports will be joining up with he group in Vegas (go figure).

As far as drinking at the draft, I was the one who sat next to the infamous "drunk guy" at last years draft in Vegas. Many of you know about that story. Here's a clip... (slurs after someone else's pick) nice pick with Tiki, (several picks later and it's his turn, slurs his pick) "I'll take Tiki" He did apologize and took the abuse like a man. Hopefully, there won't be an any incidents.

I sat directly across from you in that draft, Phil... to recap those that don't know what we're talking about:

In the "Competition" Vegas football draft in Fall '03 - our draftmasters league had a guy who showed up to the draft drunk. He loudly and boisterously applauded everyone else's picks on occasion with the phrase 'Nice Pull, Nice Pull' - we all chalked it up to exuberance and excitement and he was just a talkative guy. By about round 3 his head was nodding - he'd perk up every now and then to catch himself and listen for a pick or so before he faded out... when it was his turn, we'd nudge him and he'd consult his pick sheet and go with the next guy available... who was, of course, taken 3 or 4 rounds before!! After 4 or 5 wrong picks, he'd just stroll down his list 40 or 50 spots and pick someone a couple rounds too early just so the draft could move on. I believe it was about round 6 that his head slumped to the table... he lifted it and announced 'Close me Off, Just Close Me Off' and then collapsed with his head onto his arms (as if waiting for the game of duck-duck-goose to start up). We took a quick 20 minute break while hotel security came to make sure he wasn't going to die and took him up to his room. The draft was finished with a surrogate in his place and once we found out he was okay it was quite funny. Turns out he was just nervous about the whole event and stayed up the entire night before drinking.

Lesson to be learned here: If you're going to get drunk, save yourself $1000 and draft, then buy us all a round at the bar. It's cheaper and you'll have a better team ;)

And don't forget the words "drop it, just drop it". It took us several moments to understand that he dropped his laptop and he couldn't get it to work (or was too drunk to login).

After we realized it wasn't serious and he was ok, it was very funny. Almost as funny as a guy showing up an hour late for the start of the draft (and he finished in the money I believe)

The Windy City competition just got tougher with the addition of the team of Shawn Lechner and Christopher Litsey (just hype, folks, just hype). Let's give them a grand NFBC welcome as they make the drive up from Indiana. It's another duo to reckon with in the NFBC.

Another California resident is making the trek to Las Vegas to compete for the $100,000 NFBC grand prize. Give it up for Doug McCready, our latest entrant in a week of steady signups. Welcome aboard Doug and don't let any of these guys buy you a drink. Looks like they have a plan in place when they do that!!!

The state of Alabama has been heard from as Ken Norred has signed up for the NFBC draft in Las Vegas. He's our first registrant from Alabama, so let's give him a big NFBC Bear Bryant welcome. Best of luck Ken.

I just want to let everyone around this fine country know that today I woke up in the frozen tundra of Iola, Wisconsin and it was 10 degrees below zero and 35 degrees below zero with the wind chill. Does anyone have any objections to moving this draft up eight weeks? I need to get out of the cold. Good thing I'm going to Houston next week for the big game.

Don't know whether the paperwork is done yet, but Scott Monroe and I will be representing BaseballHQ.com in NYC for the NFBC straight draft. Given the "expert-bashing" earlier in this thread, I'm sure we'll be welcomed warmly. :)

Seriously, this sounds like a great weekend and a season full of tremendous competition. We're very much looking forward to it.

Steve Wells of Las Vegas is planning on home field advantage to take him to the title as he has signed up for the NFBC in...where else?...Las Vegas. Steve signed up at 5:11 a.m. today, so I have a feeling he may have been scouting the Rio playing grounds. Welcome aboard Steve and is it safe to say that I won't need to save a room at the Rio for you? Good luck in the NFBC.

Our latest entry to the Chicago NFBC draft will be flying in from Dallas on March 20 to draft with everyone. Stanley Kaye is the principal manager of this team, with his son Michael and co-manager Rick Lung actually manning the draft table in Chicago. Take my word for it, these guys are fired up for the NFBC and the fly-in, fly-out to the Windy City is the least of their worries. Welcome aboard guys and best of luck in your preparation for the big draft.

Lyle Gritchen of Chicago is gaining home field advantage now in the Windy City as he is our latest entrant to sign up for the NFBC draft. He even nabbed a Ryne Sandberg autographed photo for his early bird signup giveaway, so grab those Cubbies early if you expect to get them before Lyle on Draft Day. Welcome aboard Lyle, it's a pleasure to have you as a member of our team.

It's been a good day for the NFBC in Chicago as another pair of Illinois residents have decided to take the $100,000 drive. Let's welcome the team of Tom Greenwald and Greg LaBonar to our growing family. Since we are switching over to the new message boards in the next few minutes, they could be our last official post of the old message boards, which in itself is worthy of a free gift from Krause Publications. That's it, a goodie for both Tom and Greg from me!!! Welcome guys.
