had no plans for taking Prado but he fell some and there were more closers available than I had expected. I'm calling it a value pick.

Knowing this draft was being published, I decided to incorporate a number of players that I haven't drafted in any of my other dozen DCs.

Overall I think I have a decent, well-balanced team. There's some picks I like and others not so much. I'm not a huge fan of Zman, but I'm really trying to diversify my player portfolio this year. In addition, I saw Team 12 draft THREE 1B in the first 4 rounds. When I see something like that, I believe the CI players will get squeezed before long. Since I feel 3B is scarce to begin with this year, the Zimmerman choice was an easy one. And don't give me any shit about ARAM. Dude is brokedown and will be lucky to get 300AB this year.

Wish I had a bit better stable of SP, but that's what happens when your 2nd and 3rd pitchers off the board are RP.

As of right now, I have a lot of guys without defined roles which is always a bit worrisome.

My team...
1B Anthony Rizzo
2B Brian Dozier
SS Alexei Ramirez
3B Ryan Zimmerman
C Brian McCann
C Kurt Suzuki
MI Omar Infante
CI Justin Morneau
OF Andrew McCutchen
OF Shin-Soo Choo
OF Jayson Werth
OF Avisail Garcia
OF Angel Pagan
U Victor Martinez

SP Jose Fernandez
SP Andrew Cashner
SP Doug Fister
SP Scott Kazmir
SP Corey Kluber
SP Dan Haren
SP Jonathon Niese

RP Steve Cishek
RP David Robertson

BENCH
1B Yonder Alonso
1B/3B Casey McGehee
2B Tommy La Stella
2B Micah Johnson
SS Rafael Furcal
SS Aledmys Diaz
SS/3B Joaquin Arias
3B Kris Bryant
3B Luis Valbuena
C Yasmani Grandal
C Yenier Bello
OF Justin Ruggiano
OF Raul Ibanez
OF David DeJesus
OF Craig Gentry
OF Ryan Sweeney
SP Noah Syndergaard
SP Jaime Garcia
SP Marcus Stroman
SP Tommy Milone
SP Mark Buehrle
SP Taylor Jordan
SP Gavin Floyd
SP Matt Wisler
RP Chad Qualls
RP Vic Black

11.11 - Kris Medlen
11.12 - George Springer
11.13 - Xander Bogaerts
11.14 - Patrick Corbin
11.15 - Coco Crisp

Thoughts?
The Corbin pick is underrated but great. Brad Miller doesn't have too much upside to be a rookie 11th rd pick. I really like getting Aramis at 11.9. Looks like he's completely healed and until last year he was a .300/25/90+ guy. Better than what you get from Zimmerman who is routinely going in the 4th rd.
Gekko's pick of Doug Fister in the beginning of the round is even better
Not bad but Medlen 7 picks later a little better.

Interesting draft.
I feel like Tanaka after he ran that lap in the outfield. Barely had time to cross off my picks.
I had to change my game plan because of so many reaches. Not sure why someone would draft five 1st baseman in the first 14 drafts.

Really surprised that Stanton dropped to me. Have a chance at 100 HR with my first 3 picks. I'm happy I got Chapman before the closer run.

Overall I think a have a solid DC team.

Medlen was selected in error a couple rounds before he was eventually taken. Tom reversed the pick; however, I (and others) had already crossed Medlen off our sheets and forgot to add him back. that pick was gold where he went, and i'm pissed i missed on him

Well, craig is OF eligible so he can still play all 4 in his starting lineup. Not a fan of this particular team but just saying.

I was wondering why he fell so far! Definitely deserved to be picked several rounds earlier, but every draft takes on a life of its own so you never know. That certainly explains things.

With my first glance, I have to look at our biggest name, Gekko...I'm not sure your offense can carry the SB needed and unless Micah makes a huge leap, you'll have to find points elsewhere. I think SP could be a plus plus if the old timers pull through the way they have before. I see BA and power upside but not sure they can come together. If they do, it's in a big way. Any other thoughts?

another snafu on my part...i never moved robertson up in my closer rankings after rodney signed, so after i took cishek i realized i should had taken robertson. i was praying for him to make it back to me in the 9th. thankfully he did, otherwise i coulda gone on tilt :P

I'd be pissed too. Happens to all of us who do this enough. Still, solid team as usual.

Pujols and Abreu are big question marks. Craig and Moss slot nicely into OF but can fill 1B or CI if the others miss time.

Mark,

I don't profess to know much about this format, but it seems like a long ways back with the starting pitchers. You have the anchor, but I see a tough time with that staff.

you picked the WRONG position to do this too. 1B is very deep this year. shoulda stuck with SS or 3B. would have made a much bigger impact IMO

With the usual uncertainty of saves every year, and not wanting to get sucked in on the closer runs early and often I decided to "troll" for saves. In a DC I believe this strategy could work in a DC, if I can nail some of my specs. Also tried to take down steals from two players basically, Billy Hamilton and Rajai Davis. I believe 140 swipes is realistic from the pair. Team looks like:

C. W. Rosario
C Salty
1B. K. Morales
2B. D. Murphy
SS. Tulowitzki
3B. Bogearts
MI. Hardy
CI. Loney
OF. B. Hamilton
OF. Braun
OF. Holliday
OF. Cud dyer
OF. Byrd
OF. R. Davis

P. Cole
P. A. Sanchez
P. Burnett
P. Wheeler
P. Archer
P. Tillman
P. T. Wood
P. W. Rodriguez
P. Hawkins
P. Lindstrom
P. B. Wilson
P. Putz
P. Matusz

Key Bench:

Lough
Tabata
C. Dickerson
Grossman
E. Nunez
Florimon
Ianetta

listen - two teams can already be ruled out of money contention. team 1 (went on auto for some reason) and your team
