FAAB- What happened?
What happened to the new FAAB we were promised? Am I missing something here? I sent an email specifically stating I would not sign up for more than a few events if this wasn't changed for this yr. I was assured it would be. After the final Primetime of the season today, I opened up my FAAB for a quick and painless turnaround as I was promised and...
It's the same shit. Please tell me this is a prank. I'm going to be a raging alcoholic or drug addict (maybe both) by mid-season if this shit is happening again.

Re: FAAB- What happened?
Greg posted that it was done but they were testing it week 1 and if everything was OK it would be up next week.
Re: FAAB- What happened?
Oh, you mean like they were doing with the new draft room? That makes perfect sense.mattjb wrote:Greg posted that it was done but they were testing it week 1 and if everything was OK it would be up next week.
Not what I was told at all via email when signing up for events. Should be completed and ready for season. Offseason=testing, not during week 1 of the regular season when everybody is supposed to be excited for this.
Re: FAAB- What happened?
Someone in my main event dropped Glenn Perkins for Brayan Pena
I assume it's an error do they get then back or just removed from the player pool?

Re: FAAB- What happened?
Jose Fernandez was dropped in my online league. I'm sure the owner was trying to drop Florimon. I hope they get him back.
Re: FAAB- What happened?
They'll get both back.
Re: FAAB- What happened?
how can you be sure
Re: FAAB- What happened?
It's happened before. You can't ask people to spend the kind of money they do to play here and then penalize them for what is clearly a mistake.
Re: FAAB- What happened?
Another site with much less cred says that when you play in "expert leagues" you are responsible for your mistakes.TParsons wrote:It's happened before. You can't ask people to spend the kind of money they do to play here and then penalize them for what is clearly a mistake.
NFBC is more forgiving it seems. Another reason I'm glad I left there.

I think that Greg and the guys will fix any mistakes that were clearly computer-oriented. If someone meant to drop Florimon, but somehow the computer clicked on the next guy in line who was Fernandez, I;d think everyone would want that mistake fixed.
I had to contact Greg about one of my leagues where I outbid someone for a player, but somehow my bid was not registered even though it is clearly posted in the bid history as being made.
I have done many online drafts this season: In nearly every draft, at least once (many times more), the draft was stopped and reloaded because someone made a mistake with a pick that was attributed to computer issues. ALthough such issues can be annoying, it assures that the players get the best experience possible.

One league I dropped Matt Cain instead of Lorenzo Cain somehow. Surely my mistake but Greg took care of it and saved me the disgrace.

Re: FAAB- What happened?
The new FAAB setup is finished and I saw all of the new features on Friday. The setup is exactly what you folks wanted, with drop 'n drag within the conditional bids and more. Your team and free agents are now side-by-side. It was important that we tested it last night before unveiling it. I just got back from Las Vegas, so I haven't talked to IT yet, but hopefully we are ready to unveil this very soon. It should save you lots of time on Sundays.TParsons wrote:What happened to the new FAAB we were promised? Am I missing something here? Greg, Glenn just called.
He's a little peeved that there has been no updates.

Re: FAAB- What happened?
I'll highjack for one moment. The live scoring is exactly the same as last season with certain stats appearing and disappearing after a short period of time. I understand that FAAB was the priority but if this is our season long live scoring again this should've been awarded some type of priority.
I can live with the fact that we don't have columns for the stats, the appearing and disappearing stats is something that will frustrate many of us daily for another season. How is it the daily games can get this so right when they have so many more teams loaded and tracked in their system?
Very disappointing.

What's the fascination with live scoring?
It's week 1 of 26 in a Roto season. There are a myriad of sites where you get better live scoring - like MLB.com for one.
Do you guys really need to know this minute if you're in 5th or 8th place?
I don't get it.

Because some of us like live scoring on the first day. It's really not that hard to figure out. We get it, you don't care, but some of us do.
Re: FAAB- What happened?
Through all the years of being in the NFBC, there have been two constants. One positive, one negative.
The positive is the great customer service and general overall satisfaction that Greg and Tom give their customers.
The negative is that NFBC technology has always woefully lagged behind that customer service.
There is nobody that wants to fix this tech more than Greg.
Long time customers have been promised better tech. But that tech has always seemed slow in coming or a disappointment when it finally does arrive.
This week, the new FAAB is unveiled. If flawless, it would be of great significance. Not only would it trim time for players, It would provide hope that other things can be improved like live scoring, or rostered bench players being put in positional order, and time of games next to each player on our roster, so that we have an instant idea as to each players deadline on Monday and Fridays.
Several players follow live scoring every day. Most do not follow the standings as much as they follow how there players are doing for the day. It is a source of entertainment for these folks. It is important to them.
Sure as heck, they are not gonna let a turd in a punch bowl try to downplay the gratification they get from following live scoring.

Re: FAAB- What happened?
Live scoring with columns for the 7 categories we discussed about previously will be done next. The new FAAB redesign got in the way of this next improvement, but this is next. Sorry we couldn't get this done in time for Opening Day, but it is next on the To Do list and we've discussed how it will be presented when I was in Chicago earlier this month.Money wrote:I'll highjack for one moment. Re: FAAB- What happened?
Four years ago on the opening Monday of the season, Fanball tech almost killed the NFBC. That was only four short years ago today. Think about it everyone. We were 24 hours away from technology killing the NFBC.DOUGHBOYS wrote:Through all the years of being in the NFBC, there have been two constants. One positive, one negative.

STATS technology has improved our product immensely. They thoroughly test everything before we launch so that we don't have issues like we always had with Fanball, and sometimes that lags behind my announcements of new stuff coming. I get to see it first and then get too excited about it and announce it here, when maybe another round of tests are coming.
Remember, we didn't even have Live Overall Standings for any national contest before last year. Now it's taken for granted even with 2,460 teams in one of the contests.
The new FAAB setup is what you wanted and almost ready.
Live Scoring is faster and will have columns set up. Just not today as we have to finish FAAB first. But the improvements that you've asked for are coming and the IT team is as eager to unveil all of this as you are. The online draft room is also going to be a huge improvement starting with football, and we apologize for not getting it done in time for NFBC 2014. But that will also be a big technological improvement with so many people drafting online.
I have every belief that the IT team will not only equal the customer service that we provide here but will surpass it in 2014.

Re: FAAB- What happened?
Live overall standings are certainly not taken for granted. They are expected to exist and function well. If you want to be a major player, these things have to be tremendous, like the service and drafts are. The overall scoring was terrible in football. You couldn't figure out what is what without clicking on every team. Then it lags and sometimes switches stats. Even in the classic on the last day, some thought they had a chance to win but the right roster wasn't even showing up for a team. That is not good functional overall scoring. The entire live scoring system needs major overhaul. Tremendous amount of problems with it. And given that you guys ARE STATS, this is mind boggling.
