It was originally called "soreness," but an MRI taken Wednesday revealed a broken bone. Trumbo is headed back to Arizona for further examination. The 28-year-old slugger could be looking at an extended absence.

I think Matt Cain's pitching is going to put me on the DL.

Stress fractures are big trouble. I'd say he gone too. Unless, it is only a "grade 1" stress fracture. Kidding, not sure if they "grade" those.Outlaw wrote:Trumbo said a previous stress fracture in his other foot required 5 1/2 months to heal, though he noted that this one was not as bad. The hits keep on coming, but so are the HR. After last night (games through April 23), 50 guys have four or more HR. Due to the pitching injuries, has the worm finally turned so we can expect more offense?
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

HR/gm in 2013 for full season...1.918Edwards Kings wrote:The hits keep on coming, but so are the HR. After last night (games through April 23), 50 guys have four or more HR. Due to the pitching injuries, has the worm finally turned so we can expect more offense?
HR/gm in 2013 thru 4/23 (581hr/309gm)......1.88
HR/gm in 2014 thru 4/23 (592hr/320gm)......1.85
Looks to be on the same pace as last season, but it is still early and pitcher injuries seem to be pilling up.
When I get a chance, I'm going to look at RUNS Scored Totals

There have already been 12 1-0 games this April, the most in MLB history for the month of April and we still have a full week ahead of us. Maybe last night was a turn for the offense, but I'm not sure of that. Still, it was great to see 27 different players hitting home runs yesterday and some football scores again.

Yeah, too bad some of those football scores are coming against my pitchers, and when my pitchers do well, my offense is part of those 1-0 scores...can't seem to get both on the same page at the same time.Greg Ambrosius wrote:There have already been 12 1-0 games this April, the most in MLB history for the month of April and we still have a full week ahead of us. Nova is the 15th pitcher since the start of the season to undergo TJ surgery.
Re: And the hits just keep on coming....

Michael Pineda is out until at least May 5th with a neck problem.
The problem, of course, is that he has pine tar on his neck and has been suspended 10 games.

Gio Gonzalez (shoulder) is dealing with normal soreness. He was removed with shoulder tightness from Wed Game. Next bullpen session will determine if he makes his next start. Talk about a poster child for a pitcher who throws across his body.

The problem is he was bit by a zombie (walker). They have a cure though, but they have to be careful he doesn't turn first. Then, the whole Yankee team is f***ed.
Re: And the hits just keep on coming....
Whatever came forth about him and PED's (pedestrians, pedophiles, and performance enhancing drugs)? I thought his Dad was taking them and I suppose the MLB just said "okay" that's logical. You know it's going to be a rough season in April when players you pick up for injured players (temp replacement).............get injured that very week.

Does anyone know how seriously Cespedes was hurt last night?

I am sure you saw the same thing I did, but I saw a report that it was a hammy. I suffered through the aches and pains of the bastard last year, so if you have him. Hang on. He makes Chipper Jones (later in his career) sound down right reliable.

There's a lot of talk obviously about all the pitchers getting hurt and deservedly so but third base has been hit pretty hard by injuries too.Glenneration X wrote:And if anyone's still rolling with him..... Headley bye-bye.

Grilli also goes DL. And yet another TJS, this one for those who were stashing AJ Griffin (like my Platinum squad was).
Busy night for the Fantasy Grim Reaper. Ahhhhh.....good times.

Harper left early too.
I think I have like 5 or 6 offensive player injuries that are on the DL and likely to be on the DL.
Can't even pick up backups at this point without screwing up the roster totally.

Alex Avila....though his owners might consider that a blessing.

Anytime a 1b is lost, it's Morales to the rescue. Including most A.L. East teams.Outlaw wrote:Hells Satans wrote:mesoraco

Then, Morales never comes.
Nobody seems to want to pay the Boras price tag to be rescued.
