And the hits just keep on coming....
Re: And the hits just keep on coming....
Rockies outfielder-first baseman Michael Cuddyer, who sustained a left hamstring injury on April 17, accompanied the team on its road trip, and reported not bad news or good news. Just no news.
"Every day kind of feels the same," said Cuddyer, batting .317 with three home runs and 10 RBIs in 16 games. "It's obviously not good to not have improvement, but, at the same time, it's not worse."
Cuddyer said he hasn't lost strength, but the catching sensation prevents him from running. When he first sustained the injury, he didn't expect to have to go to the DL, but at least he is happy the injury was limited to the ligament area and was not in the main part of the muscle.

Proving there is more ways to hurt folks than mere lies.
I'm waiting for the Onion story ...
Ryan Braun has denied a rumor that he hit his teammate in the head with a bat, saying that it was in fact his "near look-alike" teammate Rickie Weeks, who he postulated wants more at bats. Braun also denied straining his intercostal muscle. "Nope, that was someone else too, probably Rickie on that swing where he bashed Jean in the head", before angrily lecturing reporters in front of his locker, telling them to get their facts straight next time.

That video is truly unbelievable. Seriously, how dumb do you have to be? Who on earth swings a bat without checking to make sure no one's close enough not to get clocked by it, especially right at the foot of a dugout? The kids on my son's little league team know better.
What a boob.

Assignment for today for those who 'dont' get it".
1. Find blackboard.
2. Find chalk - any color will do
3.Write on blackboard, 100 times. INJURIES ARE PART OF THIS GAME
Seriously guys, with regards to the injuries, this is still much easier than football.

However, it is beginning to remind me of basketball; I agree, part of the game, however, I can't quite remember this many injuries in any April.TOXIC ASSETS wrote:Assignment for today for those who 'dont' get it".

Bye-bye Harper......another major surprise there. Me's a thinkin' he'll be out a very long time (longer than Hamilton). I suppose this was only a matter of time as well. How can they even compare Trout to Harper? Trout is much better when both healthy, and if you want to add in durability than it's a joke. Harper is hype and has never been anything but that.

If that is the case, and some cut him.......will he be held out of the faab or kept in it?

Pedroia played thru torn ligament last year; highly doubt he would be done for the year even with ligament damage, possibly out til the break though.

Archie Bradley - DL - the old flexor strain in the elbow problem... No wonder why he was getting lit up his last few starts.

'Michael Pineda had to halt a simulated game on Tuesday after experiencing tightness in his right lat.
Pineda was expected to return from his 10-game pine tar suspension on Monday to face the Angels, but that might not happen now. The Yankees will run some tests and put David Phelps on standby for that Monday start. '

"Jason Kipnis (abdomen) will be re-evaluated Wednesday before a decision is made on a possible disabled list stint.
Kipnis left Tuesday's game against the Angels with a right abdominal strain, saying he "felt somebody punched me in the back. I couldn't breathe running down to first base." The second baseman did say after the game that he was feeling better, and the Tribe is hoping that it's just a cramp. That might be wishing thinking, though. A trip to the DL is a real possibility."
In my Auction League, that is Chris Davis and now potentially Jason Kipnis, both within the last week. Looks like I will be honing my in-season management skills.

Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

Add Kipnis to the scrap heap.

Still haven't heard about a DL stint but it looks like managers are being extra cautious this year so don't rule it out just yet.

If you are speaking about what I said, that's not what a meant. Losing your first two picks is devastating and hard to recover from. All I said was that with so many injuries this year, you can recover from injuries easier than in the past.Glenneration X wrote:Stop making excuses!Edwards Kings wrote:"Jason Kipnis (abdomen) will be re-evaluated Wednesday before a decision is made on a possible disabled list stint.

Everyone deals with injuries to their first and second round picks. Good in-season management can overcome anything. Well, at least that's what I've been reading.

As far as I am concerned, I was poking fun, mainly at myself. I can still manage, relying on Lucas Duda and Jhonny Peralta if I need to...damn...BK METS wrote:If you are speaking about what I said, that's not what a meant. I'm just being facetious my friend. It's just my little way of making light of the numerous recent posts by some (including yourself) calling out those who feel the need to post on the injuries they've suffered or others have suffered in this crazy fantasy baseball season.BK METS wrote:If you are speaking about what I said, that's not what a meant. To me these injury posts aren't excuse making. They also aren't requests for advice. I think anyone who antes up hundreds or thousands of dollars for a fantasy baseball hobby kinda knows already without being told that their season isn't over because of an April injury and that in-season management is an available tool to try to survive an injury onslaught until their wounded return. To me being told that feels a bit condescending.
These posts are nothing more than venting, a release. After all, who else are we going to vent to? My pitcher blows up and I tell my wife and she looks at me with a blank stare. I tell friends or family that don't play the game and I get a confused look. So we tell each other, those others on the boards, those who would/should understand the frustration we are dealing with. I mean if you can't vent about a fantasy baseball injury on a fantasy baseball board, where else are you going to go? Your priest or rabbi? They'd probably give you that same blank stare you get from your wife.

I love this thread. I love these posts. I love making them. It's a fantasy baseball board. These are fantasy baseball issues. Like I said, where else ya gonna go?

PS...how about our Mets Bud!!! I think it's the '69 or '84 rise from the ashes revisited!!!

Replacing Kipnis is harder than Harper. The position is tougher to cover. And unlike Harper, Kipnis is a guy we tend to plug in and forget about. And at this stage of their careers, Kipnis is the better player.
