Suspened Game Stats
Suspened Game Stats
COL-SF game won't be finished until September ... will the stats through 6 innings be added to fantasy team scoring now, or when the game is finished four months from now?

Re: Suspened Game Stats
Good question. Also, if the stats don't count now but only when the game is finished, then I'm guessing that we don't get any stats from today unless the player is in our starting lineup when the game is completed. Correct?

Re: Suspened Game Stats
I will ask IT tonight. Yeah, with this one being made up in September we need to make sure we have current stats showing. I'll see what they say and post here.KJ Duke wrote:COL-SF game won't be finished until September ... will the stats through 6 innings be added to fantasy team scoring now, or when the game is finished four months from now?

Re: Suspened Game Stats
I'm pretty sure they only need to be in the lineup right now (yesturday) for the stats to count in September when the game is finished. Even if they are not in the lineup in September when the game is finished, all nine innings should count. Am I correct Greg?Bronx Yankees wrote:Good question. I am checking on this now. This is a unique one with the suspended game being made up in September, so I want to get all the facts correct before posting exactly how this is being recorded now. Re: Suspened Game Stats
As of now, the stats aren't counting. Under team stats for period 9, Delarosa stats are at zero along with all the other SF/Col pkayers

Re: Suspened Game Stats
MLB does not count the stats until the game is completed ... BUT whatever happened yesterday will be credited at that time regardless of whether a player who was in the game yesterday is in the lineup when they continue the game (hell some of them won't even be on the same teams but they will have those AB/IP added in September0

Re: Suspened Game Stats
Tracy Ringolsby did a nice article on the weirdness of suspended games here. Apparently MLB changed the rule in 2007 so that any tied game that has gone at least 5 innings gets suspended (there are examples in the article from 2008 and 2009 of this book keeping, so it looks like this has been handled in the NFBC before). There are games where a guy accrues stats for a game prior to his major league debut (e.g. from Ringolsby's article, Barry Bonds debuted on May 30 1986 but is credited with the winning hit for a game on April 20 at Wrigley Field, b/c that game was suspended due to darkness then resumed and completed on August 4). Not sure how this affects our game, so curious to hear back from Greg on how this will be handled.
Re: Suspened Game Stats
This is not correct. MLB is counting the stats now. I'm expecting NFBC to do the same, but as of now they are still not showing. Greg, can you please provide a clarification. Thanks.Captain Hook wrote:MLB does not count the stats until the game is completed ... Re: Suspened Game Stats
I do not have an answer yet, but we are definitely looking at this. In past years, I don't believe the suspended games were made up three months later, so this wasn't an issue. I didn't get a final answer yesterday, but will update as soon as I know how this game is being handled.

Re: Suspened Game Stats
This was before my time in the NFBC, but here's a great example of the weirdness that falls in the recent suspended games category. On April 28 2008, the Orioles and White Sox played 11 innings at The Cell until rain forced a stoppage. Of course it was the only scheduled trip for the Os to Chicago that year and this was the last game of a wrap around weekend series. They picked the game up almost 4 months later on August 25 when Chicago was in Baltimore for the return trip, playing in Camden Yard as the home team. No idea how this was handled over here, but for MLB the official game logs have all stats effective April 28th. That includes a note for Ken Griffey Jr, who officially played for both the Reds and Pale Hose that day (as he was traded that year to Chicago in July, and pinch hit for Brian Anderson when the game resumed in August). Here's the box score for the curious.Greg Ambrosius wrote:I do not have an answer yet, but we are definitely looking at this. What will really make it interesting is if a pitcher starts the game for one team, gets traded midseason and becomes the pitcher of record for the other team. You could actually have a pitcher win and lose the same gameChris Hahn wrote:This was before my time in the NFBC, but here's a great example of the weirdness that falls in the recent suspended games category. People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring.

Re: Suspened Game Stats
The stats are supposed to count. It went more than five innings. The guys you had playing are supposed to be counted now. No question about it. The daily sites correctly handled it that way, and that is how the full season are supposed to handle it also. This is not the first time it has happened. It has counted in the past and should count again. It doesn't make a difference if the game is made up the next day or two months from now, or not made up at all. The stats count if the game is suspended. How it is even left to a question, I am not sure.

Re: Suspened Game Stats
All teams that had players in this suspended game going last week WILL receive these stats once this game is completed. The system knows which teams had active players that day, but the stats aren't loaded until the game is complete. But you will get those stats when the game is completed in September. Hopefully this helps explain how the Suspended Game is being handled; any player who was on your roster when this game started will have stats through five innings loaded when the game is completed in September.

Interesting thought, but not true. Huff is the only pitcher that could lose the game because he left a runner on base and if he does lose it than Masset will be the pitcher of record for Colorado.MadCow Sez wrote:What will really make it interesting is if a pitcher starts the game for one team, gets traded midseason and becomes the pitcher of record for the other team. There seems to be no consistency whatsoever. Why are the suspended Giant/Cub game stats done differently. Heck even a win for Wada included in the standings if I am looking at it correctly. Why are different suspended games handled differently? And when can we be assured the stats are correct involving the cubs game?

This one is different because they announced the game was final and didn't call it suspended until the next day.

Yeah and that was yesterday, so why wouldn't the stats be removed like other suspended games? I know when the game was and that it was declared final. All I ask is they post when it is correct.

Re: Suspened Game Stats
This game picks up tomorrow. Explain to me how this will work. As of now, my understanding is that none of the stats from that game are included in our totals. Will all of the stats from the completed game (from players who were in our lineups in May) be included in our stats regardless of whether the players are still in our lineup this week? Or even if they are still on our team? What if they are now on another NFBC team?

Re: Suspened Game Stats
For example: I had Cuddyer in my lineup in that game. I have since cut him. Another team added him. I'm assuming I get his totals from what already happened in the game and what will happen today as well. Sound about right?Hells Satans wrote:This game picks up tomorrow. Last night's KC/CLV game was suspended too! How many other suspended games still must be made up/completed other than the one being made up today?

Re: Suspened Game Stats
So if I were to use Casilla and he were to pitch today in that game I wouldn't get the stats? That is not right, nor should I get further hitting stats from my batters unless they are in my lineup. The stats from that period SHOULD already be in the standings as what is done is done. And what happens now in the game SHOULD be included on what you set for now. This action is happening now. This seems ridiculous. And since they are operating in this manner we have to manually figure out the impact of the KC game throughout the season. Bottom line it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever to get stats for games now if you don't have that guy in your lineup now. And it makes no sense to not get stats now for a guy you have in there now. The stats are happening now.

Chad: I agree that it would have been better if the stats were split and already counted, but that ship has sailed. I've been operating under the assumption that I did not need to keep players on my team to get the stats for that game.
