Nelson Cruz

Post by Edwards Kings » Thu May 29, 2014 9:17 am

I have him in my Auction League. Best $10 I ever spent in a league. I lost weeks of time from Davis, and Weiters, and Rasmus, and Kipnis and Belt, but I still lead that league in HR and RBI, I think mainly because of Cruz.

So, who picks up the tab? He has gotta be looking at 5+ years now and $100 million plus. Yankees?
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

It's a long season, so I wouldn't be counting his $$$ yet if I was him. He has been known to be injured on a frequent basis.

The big driver will be whether he has a clause in his contract that prevents Bal from offering him arbitration (I don't remember seeing that). No team is giving Nelson Cruz $100m and giving up a 1st round pick.

Sure they are. A big market team will pay him if he hits 40 HR. This isn't Stephen Drew.. if he continues to produce at this level, he will get a boat load of money.

I didn't see this coming, that's for sure. I have Nelson Cruz on exactly zero of my teams.

The steroids question puzzles me. Surely he can't be juicing now after having been caught and suspended? MLB probably is testing him every other day or something. But, if he can hit like this clean, you have to wonder why he ever juiced in the first place!

Damn, I wish I had him on a few teams ....

Shhhh!

He might hear you and get hurt. I need him healthy....at least until I get Belt and Weiters back. ;)

And true. He has to make it at least 130-140 games and exit the season in reasonable shape to cash in at any level. Playing him out of the DH spot on a regular basis could/should help.

Kind of like Braun while he was under scrutiny after dodging the bullet the first time, he had a monster year. Still more amazing as we kind of expected monster potential out of Braun. Cruz has always been the cut below to me, even when playing.
