Andrew Heaney

Post by Edwards Kings » Tue Jun 17, 2014 12:05 pm

"Marlins purchased the contract of LHP Andrew Heaney from Triple-A New Orleans. One of the top prospects in baseball, Heaney should be scooped up in all fantasy leagues where he is still available. The 23-year-old left-hander was sporting a 2.47 ERA, 1.096 WHIP, and 79/15 K/BB ratio in 76 2/3 innings this season between Double-A Jacksonville and Triple-A New Orleans. He carries front-line starter potential, and will make his major league debut on Thursday against the Mets."

Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

Any guess on how many starts and IP they let him get before they shut him down or limit his innings. only around 85 innings last year do do they let him go over 150 or even 135, will be over 80 by the weekend for the year.

True. It would be surprising if they gave him more than 100 more innings (Fernandez pitched 170+ last year in the majors). Not sure if they will take it any easier on Heaney given the Fernandez injury this year. And I guess it depends on where the Fish are in the standings. If they tank, they have much less incentive to play out the string.

Still, I expect him to go for big bucks this week. If you do not get him, what are your choices? Bedard? ;)

Can anybody tell me why Heaney, who is not on any team's roster in my league, does not show up in the FA listings :?: He is starting on Thursday and would certainly be on the 25 man roster by now.

He has not appeared in a game yet for Marlins - Yes is on the active roster - assuming he pitches before Sunday he should appear then
