Illegal lineup

Post by Money » Thu Jun 26, 2014 10:14 pm

What is the procedure for a team with an illegal lineup? A team tonight just discovered he dropped the wrong Murphy last week, therefore leaving him with to few middle infielders. He has requested an adjustment in the player dropped. I am not in contention in this league so really have no stake.

I just wondered how this is supposed to be handled. I didn't think you were allowed to field an illegal lineup. It is my belief that pickup is just nullified. This inquiring mind would like to know.

Thanks
Joe

In this case he has David Murphy and Daniel Murphy on his roster and he meant to cut David Murphy, so he's left without a MI. We were just notified last night of this error, so he's been accumulating stats this week with 22 players. Daniel Murphy was replaced as a cut by David Murphy this morning, so he now can have a full lineup going forward.

Shouldn't he be replaced by the person who he picked up for Murphy? Therefore putting that player back in the pool. He would then drop David Murphy this week if he so chooses. I recall it being handled that way last year.

No, the acquired player is never affected or put back into the pool. He won that player and he keeps him; we are allowing the wrong player dropped to be changed and chalking it up to human error. Our advice: Never have both Da Murphys on your team. We saw this happen in football before too when someone had both Steve Smiths and cut the wrong one. We did exactly this same thing then as well.
