Food for thought question
Food for thought question
Good afternoon,
This is simply a question I have been curious about and am looking for some thoughts. We are currently first in our league in the Main Event with 54 pitching points and 54 batting points for a total of 108. With that said, we are only 35th overall. Does that mean that our league is balanced and people drafted very competitively or does that just mean or league isnt very good at all? Wont be upset with any comments, just interesting to me, thanks!

Re: Food for thought question
The first overall team has 54 hitting league points and 70.5 pitching league points. There are actually teams in the top 10 that have more league points, but Lindy has two very high scoring teams in his league. From what I can see, the top 10 overall teams each have over 120 league points. You will need to dominate more categories in order to gain overall points. The overall standings rates every team in each category.mase28 wrote:Good afternoon,

It really means neither.mase28 wrote:Good afternoon,

Only that you are first in your league with equal batting/pitching points and 35th overall.
Critiquing your league on such small data would be folly.
Congrats though!

Re: Food for thought question
If it helps, you can click on the name of the league, in the overall standings and you will see that league's overall standings.

I only get that particular league's standings. Not an Overall rank for them.

That is all I was talking about. Showing him the leagues standings so he can see the league points for the top teams.DOUGHBOYS wrote:What am I doing wrong, Alan?BK METS wrote:If it helps, you can click on the name of the league, in the overall standings and you will see that league's overall standings.

Re: Food for thought question
Ok.
I thought at one time there was a way to see Overall League Standings in comparing all league's points.
Maybe not.

Not sure if this is helps.
After clicking on overall, you are given choices to see how your stats compare to the overall stats by league type (main event, auction, Draft Champions, etc). You can look by week or roto category.

Re: Food for thought question
To add some more food for the thought.
Last year I was sitting around 25th overall and 1st in my league. I attempting to gain points in the overall and moved up somewhere around 15th but fell to 3rd in my league.
I had to decide which way to go and seeing how the overall is so top heavy I would of had to finish 5th or better in order to make it worth the money.
I quit chasing the main and went back to concentrating on my league and managed to get back to first and ended up finishing 28th overall.
Overall and league are definitely 2 separate animals

Re: Food for thought question
totally agree, not in the main event, but in the draft champions last year I had two teams in the top 10 overall around Aug 1. I decided to "go for it". So with my pitching I went a little bit more risky. One league I ended up losing 1st place by .5 finishing out of the top 20, still won the other league and ended up at 8th overall. Had I just played it safe I would have won the other league.Rog wrote:To add some more food for the thought.

In the draft champions league if I have a shot, I would always go for the overall. Main event or primetime, I go for my league title. Walking away with $6500 is still a nice win vs losing just $1000 prize in a DC.
