Don't say, "A-Rod $260" unless you want to hear the other 11 owners saying in unison "Illegal bid! Illegal bid! His top allowable bid is only $238!!"

nnoy, I'm interested to hear who your big 4 are? Seefer,
Big-4: A-rod, Vlad, Soriano, Pujols. I’d say the top three picks will come from this group of four in all 13 leagues. Unless there is a major Helton or Bonds fan out there.

Hey Nnoy, you may know this and if so, forgive me... but you can quote someone automatically by clicking on the "" symbols at the top of a message you want to reply to - no need to retype someone else's message so we know who you're replying to!

Dave [/QUOTE]Thanks Dave. I actually did not see that feature, although I am smart enough to use “CTL C” “CTL V”.

NNOY - I think you need to throw Beltran into the mix and call it a Big 5. All the Big 5 have issues this year though, so somebody has got to be thinking of someone we still have not mentioned.
A-Rod is a Yankee and new Yankees don't always succeed in year one. Pujols is a stud, but only in 4 categories. Soriano can easily hit only 260 and may score many fewer runs than he did in NY. Vlad's back is still an issue, as is moving to a new league. Beltran is fast but hits under 30 HR.

OK - So I'm not as good as I thought I was; but at least I am consistent.

You’d be surprised how many “experts” leave Beltran on the board until the 10th pick. I’ve seen numerous drafts with him going after Prior, Bonds, Helton, Nomar, and Manny. I agree that statistically he will help your team as much, or more than the guys ahead of him. However, the impact of one player is determined by the rest of the guys on your team. So, if you plan on having Juan Pierre or Carl Crawford on your team it’s best to take Bonds or Manny with the first pick. Wining SB’s by 50 still only gets you 15 roto-points, and the 15-20 HR difference between Beltran and those guys could cost you 5-6 roto-points in the power categories.
The same rationale is why I intend to go A-rod over Soriano with the #1 pick in Chicago #2. I know there will SB guys left in both rounds 3-4 and 5-6, at the end of the day A-rod will better position my team to finish near the top in the power stats, because I intend to sacrifice in another area to assure I get enough SB’s.

The guys who won the WCOFB last year had A-Rod on their squad. But they also managed to get Prior in the 3rd.
