Fanduel Signs 4-Year Partnership With NBA

It's been a wild week for the Daily Fantasy Sports space as Fanduel.com just announced a 4-year partnership deal with the NBA, with the league also gaining equity in the company. Details of the historic deal between a fantasy sports company and the league is here, written by ESPN's Darren Rovell:

This follows DraftKings' 2-year deal with the NHL. The NFL is also allowing its teams to make individual deals with Daily Fantasy Sports companies, but there isn't a league-wide deal yet. YET is the key word there.

This is all very interesting for the entire fantasy sports space. From our perspective, getting the leagues involved can only help grow the entire industry. It also can help with the six individual states that have state gambling laws unfriendly to fantasy sports. The NBA is now a partner with Fanduel, yet two of their teams (the Phoenix Suns and New Orleans Pelicans) reside in states that are exempted by most pay fantasy games. Maybe they can help there.

The more people that are exposed to fantasy sports the better for all of us. Content sites now have a unique product to sell if done right. Season-long games now have more potential customers who have played fantasy sports in the past and may want to step up to a different game. Everyone can benefit by the influx of marketing and promotional dollars that are entering this space.

Very interesting. What do you think of these deals and the growing DFS marketplace?
