fantasy football...perfect fantasy sport for someone with a life, family, etc...it's exciting to watch. plus, all the games are condensed into one or two days. also get more "follow the crowd" type owners in fantasy football. can't beat it.
again, i'm done with baseball. don't waste your time with trying to sweetalk or goad me into playing. best you go on with your normal daily business. thanks.

The NFBC will certainly survive and you are a big boy who can certainly make his own decision without goading or sweet talk.
As for me, fantasy baseball has always been and always will be the big leagues when it comes to fantasy sports. Those of us who can sucessfully balance work, family and play while still being happily seduced by the twenty-six weeks (plus prep and deconstruction) of the constant "mind-candy" of the statistics, risks, and probabilities will never be totally satisfied by the relative lack of dimension of other fantasy sports, especially football. Not a knock of fantasy football, but my tastes lean towards daily rather than weekly rewards.
Fortunately for me, the NFBC has provided me with the last element...COMPETITION (which so far has owned me)! I was tired of walking away with all the other leagues I was in. These last three years have been worth every dime and minute.
Good luck Mark! Look in on us from time to time and give us a few shots for old times sake.

Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

Totally agree with Edward's Kings
We were winning 9 out of 10 leagues...then we found the real competition...
we've played 3 years in the NFBC and our best finish in a division is 3rd. Humbling
This year in Chicago 2 we were devastated with Jonny Gomes, Gagne, John Patterson, etc, etc, etc just like so many other teams..... and these cats in Chicago 2 pounded us. We were barely able to stay at 80.....
although I'd love to get at those guys another season with a little better health
my point is I was very aware we were playing against some great owners. When a team has bad luck (Dan Johnson) and injuries ( by the ton ) you're supposed to crush them. They did just that
I prefer that anyday to playing against some yokels in a yahoo league who let me get all of the best free agents, all of the best moves, and dominate them for their lack of knowledge, their inability to compete
the COMPETITION is it. Edward's Kings is right
and I want another shot at Swartzkoffs

Gekko,
Did you really compare baseball, our national game, a game that became an American fixture during the Civil War....did you really compare pure Americana...... baseball.....
to nascar...
a bunch of left hand turns in front of a pack of people in serious need of dental work.....single digit IQ types who fly the Confederate flag 100-1 over the American flag
you just compared the most American sport with the least
YIKES
We live near the Orange Juice 500 or whatever they call that crap, and every year here come the southerners with their confederate flags and hatred of America. Our African American neighbors leave for fear of being lynched. I was thinking of opening a roadside stand for next years orange juice 500 to sell teeth and soap to the confederate army of idiots
bad, bad comparison dude

Good decision to get out GG ... that alone should have kept you out of fantasy baseball from the beginning. There are better ways to make money if that's all you were in it for.

Gekko, Your quitting? Sorry to hear it. I thought you quit two years ago.
Greg, you got it wrong. I retired from the NFFC and the NFBC. I still do the low end drafts on the web like Gekko.

So I take a long break from thinking about baseball. Guess what I learned? I gotta get back in! Much like an alcholic needing booze, I'm a fantasy junkie who needs his fix year-round. Sorry to disappoint some of you...I tried to quit but couldn't.
Thank you to the other participants I talked to. Your words of encouragement helped get me back in this thing. In addition, I will be playing this year as a consultant. An NFBC participant has hired me to draft-manage his team. While I haven't had great success in the nfbc yet, this is the year I turn it around.
Greg - sign me up (before I change my mind). I'll have the other owner contact you to arrange payment. Thanks

Welcome back Gek, your baseball retirement lasted about as long as my football retirement did - but the few months off were mentally refreshing for me even though it was only the offseason
since you're here - see Greg's NFBC baseball panel

There's a spot waiting for you on the NFBC Content Panel as I trust you'll help us with the weekly questions and rankings. We'll have fun with this on the Message Boards. Don't be afraid to hold back on your opinions!
I'll take care of the signup and get the baseball Message Boards revved up first thing next week. Take care of football first, but sharpen up those baseball Cheat Sheets soon as this is going to be a fun, fun baseball season. Welcome back.
