Jose Fernandez

Post by Edwards Kings » Mon Feb 09, 2015 6:55 am

"Marlins general manager Dan Jennings indicated Sunday that Jose Fernandez (elbow) could return to the Marlins as early as June 15.
Fernandez, who is in the process of recovering from Tommy John surgery, is slated to begin throwing off a mound when spring training begins. As long as he avoids any setbacks, the team expects him back sometime between June 15 and July 15. That first date would put him on the hill for an interleague showdown against the Yankees in Miami. Though he has immense upside, most pitchers struggle with their command in their first season back from Tommy John surgery, so expectations should be tempered a bit."

Right now Fernandez is going at the end of the 13th round per the ADP. I get why, but not me. This dorkfish has been hooked by the "will be back in time to help your team" corndog bait too many times. I am not wasting a reserve spot on these types of risks.

Hmmmm....corndogs!

Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

It was a real shame to see him go down with injury. I probably saw 6 or 7 of his starts last year, very entertaining to watch him pitch.

I'm looking forward to him coming back, but I'm not sure that I'd be willing to draft him in the first 20 rounds.
