I like stupid stats.

Do you like Max Scherzer?
Max really had some wierd stuff going on last year....
Scherzer had a batters result on 23 3-1 pitches. A result, meaning that the next pitch had an action to it, it wasn't a strike or foul ball.
Of those 23 actions, hitters reached base EVERY time.
I swear.
I wouldn't make that up.
He gave up nine hits and walked 14 batters.
He also gave up a .309 average to hitters batting ninth.
No wonder he went to the National League.

100% of runners stealing last year, occupied a base.

Josmil Pinto fact....
100% (20) of runners stealing last year against Pinto were safe.

Speaking of catchers....
Only seven receivers even caught 120 games last year.
Only two from the National League.
Jonathon Lucroy and Miguel Montero.

10 players got caught stealing bases at least 10 times last year.
They're all fast.
Guys like Billy Hamilton, Dee Gordon, Carlos Gomez, Marte....
Jose Molina stole three bases without getting caught.
Mr. Hare, meet Mr. Tortoise.
Molina has turned down all offers to be a base running coach.


Alex Rios had twice as many triples (8) as home runs (4) last year.
Rios was also given the finger twice as many times by his owners than in past years.

Barring home runs, David Ortiz reached first or second base by way of hit or bb or hbp, or fielders choice 180 times.
He scored 24 times.
A 13% chance of scoring....

Only two players in baseball were able to pull off a 20-10-10 year for doubles, triples, and homers.
