I'm curious how many people here have played in Yahoo fantasy leagues, either public league or private and what is your success rate?

The public leagues there seem to be pretty easy to win.

I've been playing the Yahoo fantasy baseball/football the past couple years and have done pretty well. If I win my football league this year 9-2 so far, I'll have 5 1st place finishes out of 6 leagues: 3 baseball and 2 from

football. Most of the leagues I'm in are private.

I'm trying to get a gauge of the competition in the NFBC.

I have a feeling this is the stiffest competition around.

I have a feeling this is the stiffest competition around. There's really not much difference between a Yahoo league and NFBC league. the level of competition is about the same. The big difference is you have a got a chance to win $100,000 with NFBC. So, quit wasting your time with YAhoo leagues and sign up with NFBC

I have a feeling this is the stiffest competition around. If you are good you are good if you are not you are not regardless of the types of leagues you have played in. I have a suggestion for you go down to the Mock draft thread. There is a team called bjoak currently on the draft board and he has gone Missing in Action. You can inherit that team and begin making picks for him. That will give you your first taste of the competition level here for free.

I was the best until I came to the NFBC. Now I'm slightly above average

Speaking from my personal experience with Yahoo! and CBSSportsline Private leagues, the biggest change you will have to account for is no trading.

As to the competition, in my opinion, the groups that I have competed with for the past three years are heads and shoulders above the rest. Usually in my private leagues, there are a handful of people who do no research and use the sites pre-rankings to make choices. A handful will buy a magazine, and ususally there are about five who really get into it. Those are the five who compete for the money every year.

In the NFBC, most owners I have met are much more committed (most should be committed

) and seem to be true fantasy enthusiasts. A chance at a Pete Rose autographed baseball

keeps all of us going, but a chance $5,000 league prize or a $100,000 top prize is good too!

There is really no comparison in competition levels between Yahoo public leagues and the NFBC. Yahoo public leagues are very easy to win due to the lack of committment by the owners, the ability to trade, and the ability to make daily moves and pickup players at the drop of a hat. In the NFBC everyone is dedicated to winning and are on top of everything. FAAB eliminates winning a league simply because you are fast to the FA list and you cannot trade. You have to have a solid draft like any league but you simply cannot afford to be weak in any category and expect to win. Sounds like fun huh?

Last year,(my first), was not fun. It was hard work and much pain. All for a 195th place finish.

I always consider the first year in a league a learning year. I finished 80th my first year and 4th in my league. Not bad, but no money. Had fun though. Had a lot more fun this year since I was in contention for my league if not the big pool.

I find that the NFBC is tougher for the aforementioned reasons. I think also 15 managers and 23 active players per league is tougher to rise to the top of. But that's a good thing if you want a challenge.

After Greg selected me, I ran all the numbers through my system and the numbers revealed to me that it would be hard to serve if I were retired.
