How much do you guys factor age in your decision on how much to value a player? For instance if Frank thomas was only twenty four years old what round would he be targeted in

Not sure if you're looking for a "I would take him two rounds earlier" type of response, but there are no easy answers here because age is intricately tied in with statistical history, medical history, and skill set. I suppose if Thomas started in the majors when he was 8 years old and had the same exact history I would value him about the same but that is a really tough question to answer because obviously there would be no comparables with that type of history.
Chance favors the prepared mind.

I know that John still publishes that theory on his website and I think it makes a lot of sense.
Basically, it says that anyone who has been in the majors for several years and is 26 years old should have a breakout season by the time they turn 27. It holds true many times because you'll see guys struggle at the age of 21, 22, 23 and then finally "get it" as they mature. When guys are second-year players at the age of 27, the theory doesn't hold as true. Basically John is saying that these youngsters were so special that they were brought up early and they will pay off for you down the road.
John will list his Age 27 breakout players on his site and maybe I'll pay for it in our magazine. I always liked that story and just lost touch with John recently.

If a 24 year old was coming off a year in which he slugged .545, hit 39 homers in 137 games, and had 114 RBI...even hitting .270...I'd rank him higher up considering at age 25 he could more likely improve his power numbers, and maybe with some maturity...his avg.
