I like the fisrt faab right before start. No reason to punish those who had early injuries; season injuries will be punishing enough as is.

Totally agree. I wasn't even aware this was a debate.

I don't care either way, but free agency seems to make sense beforehand. It does seem strange they opt to have free agency before baseball season starts but opt not to in football. Would be curious to hear the reasoning on the difference between the two since Greg seemed pretty strong on his baseball opinion. There are very early online championships in football as well and obviously there are extremely important injuries in that sport as well.

I think the difference in football Chad is that not all NFFC leagues are done drafting by the first FAAB. The first FAAB would have to be run on the Wednesday before the Thursday Night Game and as you know we still have plenty of drafts going on during Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Some folks would have a first FAAB pickup before others could do it. That's extremely different from baseball where all drafts are already finished and everyone has the same access to the first FAAB pickups.

I don't know how we could fairly do FAAB for the first week, unless we held it only on Sunday morning. You definitely couldn't hold it on Wednesday and Friday like normal weeks, so one Sunday FAAB would be the only option if we desperately wanted FAAB before Week 1 games in football.

That's our logic, right or wrong.

Does that make sense?

Yes that makes a lot of sense. It would probably be more fair if there were a very late Saturday night run as that would ensure teams being able to fill a complete lineup etc. come that opening Sunday. However, I am personally just fine without it. Any way to have less free agency is usually my preference:)

Yes, a late Saturday night deadline would be the only option for Week 1 FAAB in the NFFC. I don't like the zeroes for early drafting teams, so maybe it's a worthy option in the future. Worth investigating.

Sunday is fine, no one needs to worry about missing the one Sunday game. There are only 2 starting pitchers to choose from anyway, and all of the hitters are facing aces for their one extra game which is reversed anyway in the next week.
