NFBC Entry Fee Level

Post by Edwards Kings » Tue Dec 19, 2006 12:33 am

All great ideas and Greg/Tom and the rest of the talented group who runs this are the best ones to decide which to cherry pick.

One word of caution...as my sainted grandmother used to tell me "K.I.S.S."...which translates into "Keep It Simple S...you figure out what the last "S." stands for (my family was a tough crowd).

One of the attractions to the NFBC and why it has enjoyed such good growth is the format is easy to understand. The contest is very tough, but the rules are easy to comprehend and the payouts are simple. Newcomers I believe in general have a "boot barrier"...they need to fully understand something before they are willing to pony up $650+ for the pool of events. The more you add inevitably the more complicated it will become and that complication may impede some of the growth. At least that is what my old marketing text used to tell me.

Some change is good to keep it fresh, but make sure steps as we do not want to mess too much with a very good thing.
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

Cool...

First item...

NFBC Poker tournament at his rental!!!

This will cut through all the crap!!

I'll help Perry run it.

We could get 50 guys at $200 easy.

1)$5k

2)$2.5K

3)$1.25K

4)$750

5)$500

Add $10 fee for drinks, snacks.

Everyone could quad up and cab over. That house rental is big enough for 50 guys? Wow. That would be a fun, fun night. If Kimo, you and Perry are up for it, let the signups begin. It would be a good capper to a great day.

Everyone could quad up and cab over. While I would be glad to help with a Poker Tournament, I respectfully have to file some restrictions:

(All of which are overcome if you are talking about going to a private residence and just having a "home" game for NFBCers [it's not legal in Nevada but unless you have other issues, noise, neighbors that get the black and whites there you probably won't be bothered] - BUT I can't be part of it and neither could one of the legitimate Tournament Directors that I use)

1) It is very difficult to get space in a Las Vegas Poker Room on a Friday/Saturday night. I have enough connections to get it done [whether its on the strip or downtown], but it does COST money

2) It HAS to be professionally run

3) In past years the NFBC crowds (and NFFC crowd) have been pretty small. We would probably be lucky to get 30-40 for a tournament.

All that said, if there are enough [sorry not just seven or eight posters] that would sign up after a blast email from Greg, I would be glad to set it up. I will be there
