We interrupt your regularly scheduled programming for this important news flash...."Joey Votto hit three home runs, knocked in four runs, and drew a walk in five plate appearances as the Reds routed the Phillies on Tuesday.

Votto had a chance to become the 17th player to hit four home runs in one game, but grounded out in the bottom of the eighth. The first homer came in the third inning, a solo shot that pushed the Reds' lead to 5-1. He hit a solo homer again in the fifth, making it 7-1. In the seventh, he took Dustin McGowan deep for a two-run shot to make it 9-1. Votto is now hitting .300/.406/.560 with 13 home runs and 35 RBI."

Only seven off the pace, Votto is a lock to lead the majors in homeruns this year.

Now back to our regularly scheduled programming...

Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.
