Commercials During Baseball

If you're like me, you watch a lot of baseball.
We see the same commercials over and over.
Ad nauseum.
Here are thoughts on a few of them....



I have yet to hear one word spoken in the 'Hanna and her horse' commercials.
Even replayed them.
They are like Playboy Magazine. The words and ads become irrelevant. Unnoticeable.
I've even seen different 'Hanna and her horse' commercials.
Doesn't matter.
Still haven't heard a word.
And I think the horse even talks.
Still, not a word.
But, I do hope they make more.
Sure like seeing them.

Is there anything better than the Suburu driving dogs?
Another commercial that doesn't need any words.
Classics.

Mike Trout and Clayton Kershaw pitching Subway sandwiches.
These ads are ok.
The news of Subway spokesman Jared Fogle having his house raided with links to child pornography changes everything about Subway and that relationship.
100's of millions know why his house was raided.
In the world today, Fogle's name has been forever linked to child pornograhy.
No matter the outcome...
He gone.

Car commercials have changed. They used to go at great lengths to tell us why their car was better than others.
Now, most cars have the same materials and the technology is shared by most companies.
The only thing different about cars seems to be the name or logo.

Is it me, or does the new 'Colonel' from Kentucky Fried Chicken seem a little pervish?

'Messing with Sasquatch' is finally starting to get old to me....

I want to reach through the tv and strangle the Sonic spokemen who are always sitting in a car together.
I feel as stupis as them after watching.
Crappy, and a long-lasting crappy.....

I've never been to Skyline Chili, but I want to...

The 'First woman to pitch' in MLB could have been done so much better.
Telling us right off the bat and seeing reactions should have been the hook.
Instead, it wastes 30 seconds in telling us what is happening. Then, only shows a couple of momentary reactions.
A swing and a miss.

Every commercial about fantasy sports misses the mark in the portrayal of us.
They make it seem like we put money on the line and always win.
I have yet to see a world like that.
I know that that is not the fantasy world.....

Wait, another 'Hanna' commercial...
Nope, still haven't heard a word......

Great to have Doughboys posts again!

A few quick responses:

1. I'm pretty sure it is Hannah, not Hanna, as in Hannah Davis, the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition cover model and the current love interest of the Captain, Derek Jeter. Derek had impeccable eyes at the plate and they have not left him. His Hall of Fame resume is not limited to baseball.

2. Yes, the new KFC Colonel is creepy. Couldn't they do any better?

3. Totally agree about those Sonic ads. They try to be funny but never succeed. Those guys should've been dumped long ago. What is the message here - losers love our food?

4. Can't stand all of the ads for the All-Star game. Perhaps because I don't care. Maybe I'll watch some of the game if I'm bored, but all of the interleague games have eliminated much of the excitement or magic of the game. Moreover, if it is supposed to mean something, play it that way, and don't let fans vote (or stuff the ballots) for players that clearly are inferior to ones that the players or managers would pick. Alternatively, if you want it to be a fan spectacle, and put a player from every team into the game (does anyone think Brock Holt is more deserving than Brian Dozier? Even Brock's mother couldn't go that far), etc., then don't base home field advantage in the World Series on such a joke of a game.

I'm pretty sick of the Japanese chick who's trying to be sexy and assertive while telling everyone over the age of 40 to use Viagra, but instead comes across gold-diggery. :| But I agree on those Subaru ads, they could run those all day.

I think most baseball fans feel this way.
Selig overreacted to a tie game and tried to put emphasis on the All-Star game.
The All-Star game is an exhibition game. Originally, it was made so that their would be more interest in the Chicago World's Fair.
It was also a dream for fans to see every great player on one field.
In my mind, and I know that most will disagree, the game is no longer necessary. We see all these players on a nightly basis.
Not just our hometown hero, as it used to be.
Make no mistake about it though, the All-Star game will be here for a long time. MLB gets a lot of publicity from the show and agents use it for bonuses for their clients.
Before money in free agency and the integration of the American and National League, the game was a source of pride for players representing their league.
Now, the only separation of leagues is the designated hitter rule. Players don't care which league they play in, not a thought as teams bid for their services when becoming a free agent.

Selig thought that by making the game 'mean something', it would create more fan interest. It doesn't.
Fans vote and a player representing each team rule is there because it is an exhibition.
Next year, the game will be played in San Diego with the American League as the home team.
Why?
Because it'll be the second of four years in row that a National League team will host the All-Star game.
2015- Cincy
2016- San Diego
2017- Miami
2018- Washington
This will leave only three current parks that the game has not been played.
The Trop in Tampa (obvious reasons), the new Yankee Stadium ( 2019-20 should belong to Yankee Stadium and newly renovated Wrigley Field), and Citizens Bank Park in Philly (The same Management that has let Ruben Amaro make them a laughing stock on the field).

Add SONIC to the list of things that make no sense to me.
Never been to one.
Let's see ---- go out to a restaurant, order food, only so that you can Eat-It-In-The-Car.
