NFBC Player Default Lists Will Use ADPs In 2016

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Mon Nov 30, 2015 4:31 pm

One of the changes we've decided to make in 2016 is to help with our online player default listing. The one you'll see right now in our NFBC online drafts is a list I put together to get the site live. That list will be there until we finish at least five Draft Champions Leagues.

After that, the player default lists will coincide with our ADPs at the time of your draft. It's something we've decided to do for the first time this year to move things along more quickly. Other sites were doing that during the football season and we had several requests to start doing that in our contests. We feel it allows owners a better chance to find the players they are looking for during the online drafts. In the past the lists included players who were hurt during the off-season or in spring training and the top of the default lists were filled with undraftable players. By having the ADPs form our player default lists, that won't be the case anymore.

But we still have the Draft Prep tool that everyone should use in 2016. It can be found under Draft on your team page. What that does is allow you to rank your player default list and every time you do a new online draft YOUR list can be loaded into your draft room. Just tweak your rankings before the draft and your rankings will flow into the draft room. It does take a little time at first to adjust the rankings, but once you do it you'll just need to tweak them going forward and you'll always have your own player default list following you into NFBC online drafts.

So there are two good ways this year to make this list more current and easier to use for NFBC online drafters. We believe it will save time and make the online drafters more enjoyable for everyone. All of you are creating the ADPs in these pay drafts, so we've decided to better use them in our draft room.

Hope this helps. Good luck all and enjoy the next 4+ months of drafting.

I like the fact that there are a few hidden gems.
I also like that not every player is where they are 'supposed to be'.
We are the best players in the world. We figure that stuff out.
I wouldn't mind if injured players like Lance Lynn were dropped to the bottom of all pitchers. As with other injured players as well.
There's a lot to be said for NOT looking like other sites.
On my tombstone-
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!

I don't care much either way. But my guess is the later part of the adp list will be less useful as a gauge than before. Otherwise known as less accurate. Also know as not better. But I do think it will make drafting less stressful to some, especially new players. And that's not a bad thing.

Greg,

How often does the default list in the draft room get matched to current ADP?

It's been a while I assume. As an example Chris Sale in the ADP list is #25 while on the draft room default list he's #35. Not that it needs to be done daily, I'm just curious if it's every 5 drafts or how often.

Thanks.

My fault for not explaining the process here. Let me try now:

All of the NFBC Online drafts will give you options soon on what your player default list looks like. If you do nothing at all, our player default list that we set up in October will show up in your online draft room. That's what a lot of you are seeing now.

You can also go to the Draft Prep feature on your team page under Draft and rank the players the way you want them to appear in your online draft room. Once you rank those players your Draft Prep will follow you to every other online draft that you do with us. Each time that you update that list it will save under your Draft Prep and follow you to the next draft. You just need to update your Draft Prep before your draft and that list will flow into your draft room.

Soon you will see another button on Draft Prep that will allow you to use the most current ADP list as your player default feature. That button isn't there yet, but it will be an option before the heavy drafting season begins in mid-February. We'll update that Draft Prep page with this button and you can then use the most current ADPs in your draft room if you'd like.

So three ways to get Player Default list:
1. Our default list
2. Your draft list
3. Current ADP list, which is updated each day

Look for those options soon. Good luck.
