Re: SOLD OUT: $1300 AL Auction In Las Vegas
I've hosted a lot of live drafts and auctions during the last 13 years, and I've participated in a lot of live drafts and auctions during my 27 years in this industry, but I don't think I've ever seen a more intense first hour of bidding like I saw yesterday in the $1300 AL Auction League. This one lived up to its advance billing!!
Wow, you had 12 good owners who were throwing players out at high prices and then like piranhas the rest just took to the carcass and chewed away. It was like "Carlos Correa at 36." Then 37, 38, 39, 40, 41, 42. Next. "Mike Trout for $35". 36, 37, 38, 39, 40, 41, 42, 43 rapid fire just like that. And that continued for one full hour with everyone leaving with some players. You either dove in or you were left without any star players. It was a fantastic start to an auction.
The AL and NL Auctions were intense. Those are damn tough. But damn those were a lot of fun.
Did you boys have any fun in those auctions?
Good luck all and enjoy.
