Re: SOLD OUT: NFBC $150 Draft Champions 57
Day 8, still in round 13, this league blows. I tried copy and pasting Greg's "etiquette" message for those that may have missed it and send it to the league. Didn't seem to help. I sent an email saying at some point we may need to pick up the pace, and one team GM'd by Michelle (NO Whiners) takes her dear old sweet time. Entering the draft while on the clock a couple times, takes over 5 hrs to pick. Staying away from her in future drafts.
I had another email me the following: "I would actually think it would be a benefit to complete it later as the 15 owners would be privy to additional relevant information as spring training begins..."! So instead of joining a league closer to spring training, let's make this one last until spring training is in full swing. lol (Actually, crying out loud (col)). To this guys credit, he does auto one when possible, so won't be naming any names.
I give up on this league and probably won't do another, probably just a cut line league. Before anyone says to try a 4-hr, I won't until there is an actual draft timer that can suspend the draft overnight.

Re: SOLD OUT: NFBC $150 Draft Champions 57
Your concern is legit. Hopefully stats can improve the situation. When someone takes 5+ hours most picks, I lose all interest in the league and will not play the format moving forward. I'm guessing additional people (like you and me) will become more disenfranchised as time goes on. It's a shame because the DC format is fantastic.

I've heard from Bruce and others about not wanting to join a four hour league, put off by the ramifications during sleep.
There also is not a 'meeting of the minds' in four hour leagues.
Heck, the very person Bruce mentioned is signed up for a four hour league.
I've drafted with her before and she does take four/five hours a pick as Bruce stated.
Tedious.
Hang in there, Bruce.
On my tombstone-
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!

Re: SOLD OUT: NFBC $150 Draft Champions 57
To compound the issue, I have the 15th pick, and am always available to draft or at least auto-one, but the guy with the 14th pick makes his pick and then will split for a few hours rather than sticking around for a few minutes or at least throwing 2 players in his queue and going auto one.
And there is NO communication in this league, and I mean NONE...ZERO! No chat, no nothing. Such a fun league to be a part of, but am hanging in there...thanks Gekko and Dough!

Re: SOLD OUT: NFBC $150 Draft Champions 57
We didn't even get a rd in today, so tomorrow will be day 9, rd 14. This has to be the worst league ever, unless someone/league can beat this futility. If things don't change soon, I'm going to give in and do my best to make sure this bad boy lasts until opening day, which is what most in the league seem to want.
I have a pick at the turn rd 15/16, I'll take 16hrs and dedicate those 16hrs to a team in the league that deserves a shout out for being a SLOOOOWWWW drafter. I may occasionally draft quickly and dedicate that rd to a team that is usually pretty good at drafting in a timely matter...but that won't be very often. lol

Re: SOLD OUT: NFBC $150 Draft Champions 57
Every once in a while the thought crosses my mind to jump into one of these conventional slow DC's where the competition I'm sure is considerably softer than what I'm up against in the faster ones with the hardcore fanatics of this game. Then I read shit like this and I am thankful that I didn't since you couldn't pay me $28,000 (or whatever the hell it is this year) to put up with this garbage!
It would make a lot of sense to take a serious look at revamping this format in this area a bit for next season for a variety of reasons for the betterment of the game and the customer experience...but then again, the operative word here is "sense".

Re: SOLD OUT: NFBC $150 Draft Champions 57
In the last 24hrs, we've basically had 4 picks take 7hrs, 4hrs, 6hrs and 6hrs (and counting)...that's 23hrs for those mathematically challenged...with the rest being auto picked or taking only a few minutes. That folks, is how you get one rd completed in a day!

Re: SOLD OUT: NFBC $150 Draft Champions 57
Maybe owners taking hours upon hours for all their picks are the smart ones. It's in their best interest to drive the Sharks out of these DC leagues. They may in fact be succeeding.

Re: SOLD OUT: NFBC $150 Draft Champions 57
Could be, lol...but I'm sure NFBC is gaining so many more new entries than they are losing vets in these DC's, don't see anything being done (I suppose nothing really can be done but educate and hope you don't get a couple a-holes in the league). Entering these DC's 8-hr is like playing Russian Roulette.Gekko wrote:Maybe owners taking hours upon hours for all their picks are the smart ones. I last picked at 11:03am Friday, I might not even get a pick in today. I sent an email to Greg/Tom, I think when we were in the 3rd rd saying to keep an eye on this league, I had a bad feeling.

Re: SOLD OUT: NFBC $150 Draft Champions 57
I'm sure it doesn't help when auto one decides to not work (disable on it's own). I know for a fact I put it on auto one before I went to bed, saw the blue star next to my name. I wake up, and I'm on the clock with 4hrs left. Not that it would have mattered because I'm on the turn, and seeing that there is no AUTO TWO, the league would have been waiting for my 2nd pick anyway.
A team by the name of The Nutz, Brian Eklund, just timed out in the 15th rd, will have to add this guy to the DND list, he's been brutal.

Re: SOLD OUT: NFBC $150 Draft Champions 57
well, let's see. i went from a high of 20+ DCs two years ago, to the teens last year, to likely single digits this year (maybe even under 5).
