Magazine League II----Results Posted???

Post by Paperboys » Tue Jan 30, 2007 7:48 am

Team from Pick #15. I signed up to pick this team, but was called in to work at the last minute. My co-manager for the main event picked it. Can't say I'm very pleased with it, but in his defense several of these picks were "AI selections" due to internet connection issues.

C- Pierzynski, Kendall

1B- N Johnson

2B- B Phillips

3B- T Glaus

SS- S Drew

CI- W Betemit

MI- P Polanco

OF- C Lee, D Roberts, B Giles, J Rivera, L Milledge

UTL- T Hafner

SP- R Halladay, C Zambrano, J Smoltz, D Willis, M Buehrle, N Lowry, M Morris, M Mulder

RP- T Gordon, O Dotel, R Dempster, J Isringhausen

There were several "AI picks" that gave him SP late where he wanted OF, so that OF is ridiculously weak.

Captain, great infield . Closers , best in the business with Nathan, i like Borowski in CLEV.

Starters are good enough to start out with, Snell and Capuano lots of K'S from your 3rd and 4th pitchers.BUT your outfield is horrible, Kotsay and Blake might end up on the waiver wire, and Young is a gamble.Trot Nixon hasnt done anything in years , and he's always hurt and older.Huff is your best outfielder , and he's a good 3rd or 4th outfielder, he's been going in the 13th round, or in the Childs draft . I do like him and Granderson should improve.BUT , you will need the waiver wire for outfielders, but they will be there, maybe you land a couple.

Just my opinion C+

Thanks Eddie

I know people will puke on the OF, but the total production should be there - the rest of the team is Quite solid

why not just post the total results and the teams?

Looking so far at this draft, I personally think that people were willing to go pitching earlier than they would do in the main event. My sense is in the low risk events (low $ satellites, magazine drafts etc...) people are willing to take more risks than they would in the Main Event (or the high $ drafts)

What does everyone else think?

Team Drafted from the #7 Spot. I have preiously drafted both inside and outside. I found the "middle" position to offer alot of flexibility this season and prefer this spot to the last spots in a Serpentine Draft. Go easy on me boys. Before you beat me up on not backing up the Tigers closer, Jim "KIMO" Ferrari beat me to Zumaya as I'll continue to refuse to use a "teen" pick for a "possible" closer. I'll roll the dice with TJ.

C - Barret, Varitek

1B - Delgado

2B - Derosa/Theriot

SS - Crosby/Tulowitski

3B - Zimmermann

OF - Beltran, Vernon Wells, Figgins, Ibanez, Jaq Jones

MI - A Kennedy

CI - K Youkilis

UT - M Thames, Melky Cabrera, Javy Lopez

P- Sheets, Hamels, AJ Burnett, J Vazquez,

F Garcia, Billingsley, Meche, Kuo, Baek,

Heilman

RP- Jenks, Todd Jones

RP- Jenks, Todd Jones IMHO, I really like your SP and OF. Lots of upside (hope you were not expecting a repeat out of Ibanez). C and Delgado are plug them in and forget about them. Is it me or is speed a little thin after Figgins? Unless something changes which would cost him AB, Youk is going to be a great source of Runs. What round did you get him? Zimmerman scares me as his supporting cast is weak. You know what you have in the MI, so your success there will depend on in-season management.

Overall, it looks to me like a good risk/reward kind of team.

EK: thanks, good and most importantly fair read on the squad. I have a habit of losing the speed guys so Figgins was picked initially to protect. MI was left till last on purpose and you are correct, I've left that for in season mgmt to have a better staff. I actually like Zim, despite the cast and I think he will go earlier than where I took him. Youkilis went in the 15th. I wish he qualified someplace in addition to 1B but the "run" value at that point made him a solid pick IMO. Final note: Ibanez isn't a fave - but he was there in the 14th ( I think ) and he works out to be #4 in my OF.

Thanks for taking the time, good luck this season.

Nobody expects Ibanez to repeat, but in the 14th he's a steal. Very steady production with 1 blip up last year. And just think, what if he does repeat? I'm not as sure of your pitching though. yes, lots of upside, but lots of injury risk also.

If that's the best you can do Sack, 3/15 should be a breeze:)

Nice squad all the way around. Similar shortcomings as I would probably try to have. Easy to have more risks on teams not in the main event, and your sp fall into that category for sure. If that team stays healthy, you have yourself a winner.

Some interesting picks for SP. I see some SP slipping a couple of rounds from earlier ADP and some coming forward as much as two or three rounds.
