Lineup Flexibility
Hi Greg,
I know this has been brought up in the past but I was reminded of it today running through my lineups. It would be terrific if the website allowed for us to move players into other eligible positions once their games started. We waste so much unnecessary time twice a week maneuvering players based on their start time. It would also be nice if I could leave my best players at their primary positions. For ex- I had to move Jose Abreu to UTIL since Pedro Alvarez's game starts earlier.
In a contest where leagues are won by the smallest of margins I find these lineup maneuvers a necessary evil but they are such a waste of time. Any chance IT can make this happen fast? I know this isn't a new idea. It would be a terrific time saver. Thanks
Jason

Re: Lineup Flexibility
I don't think (imho) any issue was as important as this one.
Re: Lineup Flexibility
I agree and hope that we can have this for the 2016 season.lrr wrote:I don't think (imho) any issue was as important as this one.

Hi Greg- any chance IT can look at this? Sorry to be a pest but every time I set lineups I remind myself. Thanks

Re: Lineup Flexibility
Ditto for me. It works in NFFC, they should be able to set it up for us too.Red Sox Nation- wrote:Red Sox Nation- wrote:Hi Greg,

Re: Lineup Flexibility
Yes, this is part of the UT fix that we are testing now. Once this is done this will work with every position, whether you move a 3B to CI or to UT. This will allow you this flexibility for all positions, not just UT. We are finalizing this now and testing it now. I don't know for sure if it will be done by Sunday or not, but we are close.Red Sox Nation- wrote:Hi Greg,

From a coding standpoint, it should be as simple as eliminating the Bench option from any active roster player whose game time has already started. Then you don't even need to lock the active roster, only the bench players whose games have started.
In case IT hasn't considered that option, please suggest it.

Re: Lineup Flexibility
It's the top item on our NFBC To Do List, but it's not done yet.Gekko wrote:JohnP wrote: Any update on this?
The NFFC site isn't live yet either, which is an even bigger item on the To Do List for me. Unfortunately, lots to do yet.

Not sure if you saw my suggestion.
If you lock only the Bench players who have had their game deadline pass you never need to lock the active roster at all. Leaving the active roster unlocked and eliminating the bench option from the active player dropdown menu would give our managers the flexibility they're begging for and still prevent unfair the replacement of players after deadlines have passed.
Hope this helps everyone someday.

Re: Lineup Flexibility
We are going to give this a final test run tomorrow and then it will be ready to use next week. Sorry for the delay, but we finally have this ready to go. Thanks all.Gekko wrote:JohnP wrote: Any update on this?

Fantastic! Now once it's up and running, can you teach the clowns at cbs sports how to implement this? They finally got staggered start times down this year.Greg Ambrosius wrote:We are going to give this a final test run tomorrow and then it will be ready to use next week. Re: Lineup Flexibility
If you look at your Set Lineup today, you'll notice changes that we put in place for the Lineup Flexibility changes. The bottom line is that right now you are seeing all of your Active players with their multiple positions under Position. Even if players were locked in for a Monday game, you can still switch them to a different position if needed.
Any reserve player who didn't play on Monday would still be allowed to be moved into your Starting Lineup if you have a starter who won't play his first game until Tuesday. You also now have the flexibility to move Active players to different positions to accommodate that move. NONE of your Monday starters are allowed to be moved to the Bench, as you can see.
This works on Friday as well when it comes to your hitters. You now have more flexibility for moving locked players to new positions.
Check it out and let me know if you have any questions.

Re: Lineup Flexibility
Great news that this got done. I just checked it out. Looks to be working fine. I did not really have an opportunity to make a meaningful change this week given how many teams played last night, but all seems in order. Just to test things, I moved my 3B to CI and my CI to 3B. Guys that did not play yesterday have all of their position options and can be benched, while guys that played yesterday have their position options but cannot be benched. On weeks where more teams are off on Mondays, or when day games are being played, this will be a very helpful feature in terms of saving time and stress moving players in and out of various positions as starting lineups are announced. Thanks.Greg Ambrosius wrote:If you look at your Set Lineup today, you'll notice changes that we put in place for the Lineup Flexibility changes. Re: Lineup Flexibility
I was doing some last minute checking on a few lineups tonight when it seemed to suddenly switch over to the new format. It caught me by surprise. My first reaction was that I was uncomfortable with it. I like looking to the right and easily seeing what games have locked out. If I only have the day and times to look at on the left that looks pretty confusing to me. But as I said to Greg, it probably just takes a little getting used to. Unfortunately, you couldn't really do much with it, as Mike said, because almost every team played on Monday. So the real test will be next week or maybe Friday evening after the 7pm games start because that will leave about half the games still on the docket. Believe me, I want this to work because I have a lot of teams and waste a lot of time moving Jose Abreu to CI or DH - ha ha. Thanks for giving this a shot. Dave
