Strange coincidence for New York baseball teams

Post by BK METS » Tue Apr 05, 2016 7:50 pm

As I was listening to the Yankee game today on the radio, I realized a coincidence that I am not sure the press picked up on... or maybe they did and I just don't read the news all that much..... Its not a very pleasant one.

Last year, the Mets and Yankees were both eliminated in the playoffs, the Mets in the World Series vs the Royals and the Yankees in the wild card game vs the Astros.

This year, the Mets began the season vs the Royals and the Yankees began vs the Astros. But, as strange as that is, since neither team is in their divisions and the schedules were finalized prior to the playoffs last year, that is not where it ends.

The last game in the World Series, for the Mets, was a loss, with Matt Harvey pitching vs Edinson Volquez. The first game of the 2016 Mets season was a loss, with Matt Harvey pitching vs Edinson Volquez.

The last game of the playoffs last year for the Yankees was a wild card loss vs the Astros with Masahiro Tanaka pitching vs Dallas Keuchel. The first game of the 2016 season for the Yankees was a loss vs the Astros with Masahiro Tanaka pitching vs Dallas Keuchel.

The only thing that can ruin this strange phenomenon is if the Yankees win their appeal of today's game. Not likely. :D

I'm no Mets fan. But even I thought it was bad idea to make the Mets watch the Royals opening night World Series celebration. MLB has it's head squarely up its own ass.

Did you read or see how the Royals did a 30-minute Mets tribute video on OD? I think that was classy and probably eased the pain you suggested they must have felt.

Hilarious DH. It was 30 seconds not 30 minutes.

Sorry Alan, I hadn't had my coffee yet. What an idiot. I did mean seconds.

Not to mention the failed attempt to piss off Syndergaard by playing American Woman during his warmup...
