Everybody knows about Trevor Story and the good side of hitters.
What about the other side?
Let's look at some extreme mediocrity for the new season.



We have to start with a team who has not won yet, the Minnesota Twins. The Twins have not had an offensive game yet in which their hits have exceeded their whiffs.

Joe Mauer and Eduardo Escobar have twice as many hits as any of their teammates and have produced almost 40% of the Twins hits in total.

Through nine games, Twins "hitters" already have five players with double digit strikeouts.
Miguel Sano already has 15.

163 Major League players have three rbi or more.
None play for the Twins.

Brian Dozier and Trevor Plouffe have one home run.
Brian Dozier and Trevor Plouffe have scored one run.

Let's move on to the New York Mets...

The Mets have two homers....two.

The Mets have two players on their roster hitting over .250
None above .300

Curtis Granderson and Travis d'Arnaud do not have an extra base hit
d'Arnaud without a run scored.

David Wright leads the team with three extra base hits, has zero rbi.


Picking on individuals a little bit...

With 15 whiffs, Trevor Story is tied for the most in baseball.......nobody seems to care

Ryan Howard has three home runs......and three runs scored

When Andrelton Simmons is up, bet on a batted ball. Simmons has struck out just once, with no walks.
Chris Davis has struck out or walked in half of his plate appearances.

And last, pathetic Pablo Sandoval.
Sandoval says that he wants to continue playing for the Boston Red Sox, but only if starting.
This is similar to a hostage making demands of a captor.
The Red Sox did the right thing in starting Travis Shaw at third base.
He earned the position.
Refreshing in a time when money usually rules decisions.
Sandoval's bloted hyperbole only serves to match his likewise salary and body.

Probably the first time ever that Pablo Sandoval was referred to, even in part, as a small sample size. Think the Red Sox are wishing his gut, and contract, were a tad smaller.

Dan I'm looking at Brandon Moss and he has more runs scored than Bryce Harper. Brandon Moss was an after thought in one of my drafts. I know it's early but I need to find more guys like Moss a higher BA would be nice but in a 15 team format he works.
