Perhaps we are talking about different league. I am mean League 1 NYC. On website, his roster Bud Frogs has both Durham and Reyes.

Just one more question Nevada... when forecasting do you run the stats for projected starters and pick the best lineup?

Wait a minute! My league is Las Vegas #1, not NY#1. Those projections don't apply to you. (You can now breathe a sigh of relief.) Team #9 LV #1 still has an illegal roster.

I highly doubt it will change things. Those projections I am sure would be bad for any league. Thanks for your efforts Nevada.

Fish, give me some credit! I think I can tell the difference between starters and reserves! All projections are taken strictly from Shandler's book. Therefore, some saves are off, but for consistency's sake, I didn't change anything or make assumptions.

Fish, I didn't do any projections for your lineup. I did team #14 in MY league (Las Vegas #1). I have no clue what your team's stats are. It takes about 20 minutes to do each team by hand, so take out your Shandler book and get cracking!

THANK GOD. I can now breathe a sigh of relief. I had done my own projections and I just could not make sense of high SO and low homers, etc. Makes sense now. Thanks Nevada and best of luck in the Cactus League.

You are correct, the Bud Frogs does have both Durham and Reyes, I chose Reyes because of his flexibility (SS initially then after 20 games can use him at 2B, SS, MI ...Nevada is in a different league for sure. :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

I also had a high projection for my pitchers as far as ERA and WHIP were concerned. Probably not going to get 'great' years out of Rueter, Tomko, and/or Lackey, so I'm really relying on nice years from Wolf and RuOrtiz. Of course, if Santana and/or Unit struggle it's all over for my team.

No problem JFK. I agree that the Unit was where you really rolled the dice. Odds are he does great or gets injured and kills you. He burned me last year, so I wasn't about to let him bend me over again! By the way, it was nice meeting you at the draft. Good luck.

Sorry you set yourself up for this one. It's a bit puzzling why your team is losing ground with Sanchez performing well above expectations. Where are we, #62? Don't give me crap about injuries either. EVERYONE has had their share, including me. Oh ya, you've been passed.

A fair share of injuries is part of the game, but I had 7, count ‘em, 7 guys on the DL at the start of the week. Roberts, Erstad, D. Wells, Sosa, Sexson, Giambi and Patterson.

I had to cut Erstad and Wells along with Vargas just to get 3 healthy guys in my line-up. This also destroyed my strategy of carrying 5 extra SP’s and rotating starts.

I lost a lot of ground by getting a little over 200 AB’s over a 10-day period when most of my core went on the DL simultaneously. But I grabbed Olerud, T. Clark and Rowand this week to replace those blanks, they are a combined 12-25 with a HR, SB and 5 RBI’s in the two days since I salvaged them from the trash heap.

Yea, I’m in 62nd right now, and Sexson may be toast (that really is a bad beat, the other 6 guys WERE injury prone and I got what I deserved, but a 162-game a season guy in the last year of a contract should not be such a gimp.) However, both Sosa and Giambi will be back and Russ Ortiz is looking like a 20-game winner once again. The Sexson loss likely seals my fate for the top-10, but since I know what I’m doing on the FA wire I still plan to win my league and finish in the top-20 overall.

MEMO TO ALL 2005 NFBC OWNERS:

Do NOT draft many injury-prone players.

Do NOT draft injury-prone players in the early rounds.

With a 6 player bench, it only takes a few injuries to really hurt your chances of doing well. Some of you can consider it an expensive lesson learned this year.

That’s the great thing about this country; even you are entitled to an opinion Gordon. There is a ton of baseball yet to be played, and who knows maybe Sexson can shoot up with some new undetectable roids and play through the pain. We will see........

I beg to differ with that MEMO Gordon. What about the guys that took Griffey, Mora, Casey, Burnitz, or Vlad? All players that could classified as “injury prone” and all players that are on teams near the top of the standings.

Also how can you ever predict a Richie Sexson type injury?

Anyone that simply goes with what seems to be the “safe” pick will miss out on all the players that rebound and subject themselves to situations like Sexson.

The way to win a league is with balance, which includes taking some inherent levels of risk with “injury prone” players.

I won’t concede on Sexson until he actually undergoes the knife. He’s costing himself millions of dollars if he opts for surgery. Sure he still gets paid this year, but he’ll likely get a Mondesi type contract next year in the FA market if he sits out. You could quote yourself and know that he is far too greedy to do this, he’ll be back by July.
