Keon Broxton--what did I miss?

Post by lrr » Fri May 20, 2016 10:02 am

Looks like Keon Broxton will be promoted today. Last week after no activity in him for weeks, seven main event teams picked him up. Was there a rumor last week. Just curious, anyone care to share?

Domingo Santana, who has not been playing all that well, has missed a bunch of games with a shoulder ailment that has persisted. More recently, Braun has been out. Wouldn't surprise me to see one of them get DL'ed, probably Santana. Folks grabbing Broxton last Sunday probably were speculating on Santana's shoulder injury/weak performance. Thought about bidding on Broxton on one of my teams but ultimately decided not to because I had other, higher priorities.

Thanks. The Santana news had been out for a few weeks and he just started playing again. The Braun news popped over the weekend so you're probably right. The combination probably caused some speculation. Just thought there may be a news source I'm missing.

Had Choo and Aroid coming back, so I had a spot to speculate with. Saw 7/15 in AAA (albeit Colo Springs) plus the not so scary quartet of Braun and Santana's injuries and Kirk N. and Alex P. being Kirk N. and Alex P. Couple with the that the fact I have limited FAAB $ left (cue to Coz to ridicule me), so I have to try to be ahead of the curve because I ain't overbidding anyone!

But we're talking about a guy who is 0-for-16. Which means I shouldn't expect much more than 1-for-11 this weekend.

3 pitches, 1 strikeout. I doubt he rents an apartment in West Allis for this callup.

Damn, son. $124 left? I do recall a conversation, correct me if I'm wrong, where I believe you said you try to be conservative early with FAAB. If that's conservative, then you are the Bernie Sanders of conservatives. Grudge drops & angry FAAB-ing is a very dangerous thing, my friend. Just say no to the temptation that is the allure of rookie pitchers. ;)

Nothing like dropping a guy and buying him back the next week. I wonder which player I've acquired in FAAB the most times over the years that has given me the least return. I can be a sucker for toolsy young outfielders with unclear paths to AB's.

That's the ultimate FAAB waiver walk of shame.

I hear ya, I'm a total sucker & seem to have an affinity for pitchers the year they begin to suck. And position players the year after they're good. Remind me again why I play this game? ;)
