Cutline giving incorrect League/Overall Standing points
Cutline giving incorrect League/Overall Standing points
I knew that I had a pretty good day yesterday, but when comparing my league totals from 6/9 to yesterday's totals from 6/10, my team was only credited with 76 points in the league standings from 6/9 to 6/10. So I manually calculated yesterday's point totals for my team and arrived at a figure of 109 points.
To see if it was just my team, I did the same for the team right behind me. His team was credited with 96 points in the league standings from 6/9 to 6/10. So I manually calculated yesterday's point totals for his team and arrived at a figure of 104 points.
The STATS computers are not calculating correctly the daily totals for the Cutline leagues. Please address this and correct it for the Cutline customers. Again, where is the quality control? I shouldn't have to do this.

Re: Cutline not giving correct League Standing points
I just noticed in the Cutline Overall Standings that I was only given 76 points for yesterday and it should have been 109 points. You are probably going to have to do a re-run once the problem is corrected.
Re: Cutline giving incorrect League/Overall Standing points
I haven't looked at any scoring issues, but the day-to-day optimal-scoring increase is not going to match daily points scored.
If Pitcher A scores 15 and bumps Pitcher B with 10 pts out of the lineup, the net daily gain would be 5 not 15.
Is this accounted for in your calculation?

I keep a record of the individual league standings from day to day to see how much I improved or loss from the previous day. I usually don't calculate the points manually for each player from day to day unless something appears off. I knew I had a pretty good night last night, and yet my point total for the day seemed too small.
That caused me to manually calculate how many points each player on my team actually accumulated yesterday. This is when I discovered a 33 point difference between the 76 points the computer assigned my team for yesterday, and the 109 points that I calculated manually that my team should have got.
I do not keep a record of who the players on my team are considered starters or bench players by the computer from day to day. Which is what I think you are talking about to determine optimal scoring.
Re: Cutline giving incorrect League/Overall Standing points
If any player from your bench jumps into your starting lineup from one day to the next, the daily increase should not match the daily scoring of your starters. Monday is the only exception.TRAIN wrote:I do not keep a record of who the players on my team are considered starters or bench players by the computer from day to day. If you want to check STATS' accuracy you need to:
1) calculate the daily increase of those who are starters today and remain starters tomorrow,
2) add the weekly total (on the 2nd day) for bench players that move into the lineup tomorrow,
3) subtract the weekly total of today's starters (on the 1st day) who get dropped to the bench tomorrow
That should be the daily net gain, not total points scored for the day.
Re: Cutline giving incorrect League/Overall Standing points
I do not have a master's degree in mathematics (although I suspect you might have one), but If what you say is true, there needs to be an easier way to check the accuracy of the daily increase/decrease in the standings for the common Cutline player who wants to keep track of these things without going through all of the steps that you suggested.
Re: Cutline giving incorrect League/Overall Standing points
The thing you have to remember, and somehow account for, is you don't get the maximum total your team scores on Monday, then add to that the max total from Tues, then Wed etc.TRAIN wrote:I do not have a master's degree in mathematics (although I suspect you might have one), but If what you say is true, there needs to be an easier way to check the accuracy of the daily increase/decrease in the standings for the common Cutline player who wants to keep track of these things without going through all of the steps that you suggested.
The 23 best when Monday is over can be different than Tuesday, which can be different than Wednesday, etc.
Perhaps the best way to check is not by looking at the difference from day to day but rather confirm each player is calculated correctly then confirm the software is identifying the top 23.
Bottom line, what you want is for the players to be accurately scored and identified on Sunday night. That's the only total that really matters -- that's the one that counts.

Train - What Todd says here is much easier.ToddZ wrote: Perhaps the best way to check is not by looking at the difference from day to day but rather confirm each player is calculated correctly then confirm the software is identifying the top 23.

But if you want to do the day by day there really isn't another way than what I suggested. It's pretty simple, just time consuming.
It would be helpful though if we could see each player's daily and weekly scoring side by side, rather than just the weekly running total. I don't know if that's in the works, but it would be a nice update for next season.
Re: Cutline giving incorrect League/Overall Standing points
What I like to do is check my team stats for the period. On any given day, it will tell you who are your 14 highest scoring hitters and nine highest scoring pitchers. It will also give you their points. It will also tell you the pitchers and hitters who didn't make the cut. You can easily check that on any given day to see if something appears wrong.
Re: Cutline giving incorrect League/Overall Standing points
KJ Duke - I suggested something similar back on April 20 and Greg said it was a no-brainer to add - but I haven't seen it yet:

It shows the accumulated points for the whole Period for each player. A column needs to be added that would show just yesterday's points when I select YESTERDAY from the pulldown menu.
