Re: Mazzone

I do think there will be some improvement this year, but it's tough to know whether it's Mazzone or just the fact that some of these arms were on the developmental path where you would expect a step up this year. As for the AL East, always a consideration, but you have to look beyond that to see whether the skills are there.

Re: Total Control Drafting

"Bid within reason" depends upon your league dynamics. In a 12-team mixed league, if your draft sheet says Pujols is worth $45 and bidding hits $50, I'd probably stay in. In a 13-team NL-only league, probably not. You have to gauge the table.

You stated earlier that you'd probably wait on Relief Pitching, that being said in the first 10 rounds what would you look for a 7/3, hitter/pitcher split. I know all drafts are different, but is there a rule of thumb. Could you ever see yourself with a 5/5 split?

Ron...

In the Forecaster, for 15 team mixed snake draft,

you have Rollins 4th, Furcal 5th, Jeter 7th.

and more on down the line like this.

Would you really draft these guys there?

Or closer to ADP?

Re: Pens in fla, bos, cin, chc, tb

There are more unsettled pens this year than about as long as I can remember. I'm not sure anything I tell you now will have relevance in another two weeks. Guys like Timlin and McClung simply son't have the skills to pull it off for a whole season. Weathers might, but that's not a bet I'd be willing to make either. Already talked about CHC. FLA is a complete crapshoot. Do you have to draft NOW? If not, then wait until next month when the picture might get clearer. And then toss it all out by May 15.

We'll cut off the questions here for today. Ron can answer as many of the remaining ones as he can before he has to take off. We want to thank Ron for taking some time out of his schedule to chat with everyone here. As always, he's been a terrific source of information and opinion. Thanks again Ron and we'll be seeing you soon.

Re: Batting/pitching split in the first 10 rounds

Me, personally, I'd probably have an 8/2 split at best, and one of those arms will likely be a closer. 5/5 is just crazy. You can't accumulate enough offense that way.

Re: Rollins/Furcal/Jeter

Our projections are how we think they will perform. You need to take the ADPs into the draft with you. The variance between projection and market (ADP) is where your profit opportunities lie.

Thanks all for the questions. Hope it's been helpful. Come check us out at baseballhq.com!

Wasn't sure where to put this comment...

If you went Mixed league Auction draft...since technically it's as fair as it gets...how many teams per league could you bump it up to since it wouldn't be restricted like a snake? I can see 20 teams...all having the same budget...be no real problem...thin talent-wise, but fair!
