Interesting trade today with the Red Sox acquiring Drew Pomeranz. Much needed for their rotation. I'm not really familiar with the prospect they gave up, but it sounds like he is a very young but very well regarded pitcher.
Quick question: how do Pomeranz owners feel? I don't own him anywhere (but wish I did). Does his second half value rise or fall? Pitching for the Red Sox, he will get more run support than he ever dreamed of and should compile more wins. On the other hand, moving from the NL and San Diego to the AL and Boston seemingly is a negative for his ERA and WHIP. Guess I'd lean towards it being a modest hit to his value, but others might feel differently.

Re: Drew Pomeranz
I didn't see this coming but i knew Dombrowski was going to add a SP as he's pretty much been transparent since day 1 with his plans. Espinoza is their top SP prospect but just 18 and probably 3+ years from helping meanwhile Drew P. has 2.5 years of control. This deal was necessary especially when you look at the next SP FA class where guys like Rich Hill, Buchholz, Cashner may be some of the best options.Bronx Yankees wrote:Interesting trade today with the Red Sox acquiring Drew Pomeranz. As for 2016- Pomeranz will get tons of run support. My concern is his innings as he's never had a full season workload as a SP in majors. it's gonna be tough to repeat that first half though. Very interesting for sure...
