And don't sleep on the three Murphy's. I don't play OC's but how the hell does this not get flagged by some system check??? This goes to the heart of operating a fair contest. Scary. And scarier that it took until the end of July for anyone to notice. Wow.

So, four Hagens and three Murphys in the same 12-team league. I'd be curious to know if the overall leader is benefitting from drops by family members and if those family members are competing actively for the same free agents. Not sure how to go about looking at the drops and pickups of a league in which I'm not participating, but based on initial appearances from this thread, this does not look good. I hope reality turns out better than perception and there are some rational explanations.

As my mind wanders for an explanation I come up with this.

Lets say it's a family and friends league that decided to use the NFBC software to manage it's league. They facilitate trading by manipulating the FAAB system. At least it's not premeditated to take down an overall championship and $100,000. This is a tough spot now for Greg and the NFBC, I'm sure they will handle it as they see appropriate. This will take some time to sort through I imagine. Lets not forget that this is not of their (The NFBC's) doing.

Everyone needs to check their leagues immediately for owners with the same last name. This may be more widespread than we think.

Is the death penalty still an option in North Dakota?

I might be out in left field, but it sounds like a trade.

Only two members of this league played in more than 1 league.

Steve Shields played in 3, none very well.
Bryan Probst played in 2. He is currently #4 overall in his other league

Actually, maybe the death penalty is a little harsh. Greg should give them the treatment that Robert De Niro gave the cheaters in "CASINO":

Damn, this is not good. Like KJ said, it don't look good when one particular league sells out way ahead of other leagues of its kind, with no name anyone has heard of and at least half the league made up of two families. Surprised Greg and Tom didn't notice since they type the names in on signup page. There is obviously no way this is legitimate.

Listed below:

Signup Name • Team Name (Listed owner name if different)
Bob Hagen • leolaincegays
Christopher Hagen • Naturalbornkillers (Chris Lee)
Patrick Hagen • Last to First (Patrick Dennis)
Tim Hagen • Bismarck Bombers
Darren Murphy • Cuban Power
Mark Murphy • All About the Wins (M M)
Trevor Murphy • SmallBall (T Money)

Bryan Propst • Cool Guys
John Stewee • Team Stewee (Johnny Boy)
Paul Massey • Powerpitching
Steve Shields • Oh No He Quentin
Thomas Strals • Stralsome

Although Chris Lee and Patrick Dennis are listed as 2 of the 4 owners in standings, they both seem to be Hagen teams from the league sign-up list along with the other two Hagens that are listed. A quick google search shows that there is a "Patrick D" Hagen in N Dakota affiliated somehow with a "Chris Lee" Hagan.

The team that dropped Lucroy added three powerhouse 12 team catchers Tony Wolters,Trevor Brown, and Geovany Soto the week he dropped Lucroy! He went from starting Lucroy and Suzuki to Wolters and Trevor Brown.

He benched Soto. So he preferred adding Soto as a 3rd catcher to LuCroy

There is no defense for that. We've seen teams punt categories but how can someone explain how they got better dropping Lucroy in this situation.

it's one of the Murphy teams and he's in last place...

How could no one in this league bring up these moves throughout the season? Not one of the 12 owners thought this was shady?

Nice work Gek ... if needed I will dig in and do analysis too now that I've matched all the team names with owners; hopefully that isn't even needed as what's been posted already looks very bad.

Likewise for Joe, good job watchdogging this contest!

The NFBC lists all entrants which allows for safety checks like this, even if it's after the fact ... but this does make me worry about the other contest operators out there (mostly football leagues) where players can remain anonymous.

Danny Salazar was even dropped in the league. Granted -the leading team didn't add him. In what universe is Danny Salazar dropped? I checked the team suspecting that maybe he punted SP. Nope. Sitting in 2nd to last place with SP in lineup.

He dropped Salazar before he ever pitched a game. The first FAAB run on April 3rd before he threw a pitch. He drafted Salazar as his #2 yet never started him...

My research is done here. I hate to make accusations this severe but I will .....

Kudos to Money for bringing this league to light. i don't have a horse in the race but i want the NFBC to remain strong with integrity. Glad this was caught now...
