Satellite Draft Champions League, 45 Rounds, Monday, March 26 7:00pm
Greg and Tom and my other particpants in the 45 round draft champions league on Monday March 26th. After doing a 30 round satellite league, which ended at around 11:20pm ET the other night I became a little concern about how long 45 rounds is going to take. I think we may be looking at adding another 1 or 1 1/2 if not 2 hours to the draft which would end the draft way later than I definitley would like it. I'm throwing out an idea of maybe trying to move this draft to the Saturday before March 24th and starting earlier maybe around 5:00pm. Any suggestions or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

me neither...
The better option might be to move it up an hour or two.
Or set the time limit at 45 secs...
Or just come in totally prepared and pick right away...

I'd be up for moving it up and hour or two. Two hours preferably but that may be pushing it.

Or just come in totally prepared and pick right away... I agree to this one. I have a feeling with this group we'll move quickly early on and average at least 8 rounds per hour. But it will take time at the end for all the placeholders, so you're looking at 5.5-6 hours. I think we should keep it on the correct date and start it at least an hour earlier if all 15 agree.

Maybe a minute a pick instead of minute and a half, that alone would save close to an hour.
Nothing worse than the same guy taking the clock down to the end every time.

I will be happy to record any place holder picks and send them to Jason. Just need to announce them in chat room.

A minute per pick was going to be my suggestion as well. This is something we can talk about right before the draft to make sure everyone is on board with it.

I'm flexible as far as start time and duration between picks. Sure a 45rder is a butt numbing length but I'm looking forward to it anyway or I woulndt have signed on The sooner we settle the start time the better, if it is moved to 5 EST I'd just as soon take the day off.

i am agreeable to an earlier start time and reducing time inbetween picks, a minute is plenty if prepared and after the main event i am sure people will be even better prepared.

I'm in for a minute a pick but I would definitely like to go to a 5 (preferably) or a 6 o'clock start time.

Having drafted Tuesday also, I have one thing to add. I had T. Wakefield in the queue on the 27th or 28th round when the guy in front picked him, even knowing I wanted Jeff Weaver it took me 1m 24s to divest of Wakefield, find Weaver, then draft him. Now, I readily admit to not being the most technically proficient but, I can foresee this occuring in this 45 rd. format. Just an FYI to keep in mind.

Moving the time up will be a problem for me, I don't get home from work until 6:30pm. I have no problem at all with changing the amount of time for each pick, maybe do 1 minute per pick for the first 30 rounds or so and then go to 1:30 for the back end if it becomes harder....regardless, I am open to any per pick time you want, just cannot do the draft earlier than 6:45pm

Just a thought. Not even sure it can be done but it's just an idea to throw out there. How about splitting the draft up into 2 nights? 23 rounds one night and 22 rounds another agreed upon night and keeping both nights draft at 1 1/2 minutes per pick.

I don't think you can split it up.
The time has to remain at 7pm as that's what was signed up for.
Move the clock to 60 secs.
Go into each pick and pre select more than one guy.
I plan on immediately picking every pick to put the pressure on.

IF its 7 oclock im out , sorry dont want to be in if im going to be up at 1 or 2 in the mourning not caring who i draft. If earlier i can do or even the two nights, no big deal for me if you can get a replacement if has to be 7 , then go ahead.Im in so many leagues i dont mind getting out. That league the other night took 4and a half hours for 30 rounds.

My take: If we could start at 6 p.m. EST, it would help. Even 6:30 if Chris thinks he could do it would help. But we did say 7:00, so let's consider how we can make this work for everyone. There is a Saturday morning Draft Champions later that week for those who especially don't like the late hours of this one.
My take: We keep the draft clock at 90 seconds for exactly the reason someone noted earlier. Sometimes you need it to find a player. But with this group, I trust most picks will be entered in less than 30 seconds. In satellite leagues, we average about 7 rounds per hour. I trust we could do 8+ with this group, so we're talking 12:30 EST if everything goes well.
Just my two cents. We have time to make this right for everyone and I'm glad Ed started this thread now.
