Third Ultimate Draft League
Okay, I've reached out to all of the owners who said they would be willing to do a 12-team Ultimate Draft League on Sunday, March 18th. We'll go with 12 teams and a payout of:
1st: $30,000
2nd: $12,500
3rd $7,500
We just need to finalize the 12 teams and then we'll set it up among the four cities. Here's the invited list thus far:
1. Richard Kidd (NY)
2. Joseph Anello (NY)
3. Derek Briggs (CHI)
4. Brent Grooms (CHI)
5. Sammy Zahler (LV)
6. Donn Johnson (LV)
7. Shawn Johnson (NY)
8. Michael Pompinio (NY)
9. Kevin Kirves (NY)
10. Chris Hill (NY)
11. Frank Heron (TAMPA)
12. Albert Petit (tentative)
I have definite commitments from half the field. If you haven't touched base with me yet, please get back to me either way at [email protected] or at 513-722-5310. That would help. Thanks much.

Greg,
I know you are waiting to hear how many will be signing up. Does that mean we can still make changes to our draft preferences or has that deadline passed? (If so, when will we hear about draft slots.)
Whenever you have a minute.
Thanks

Thanks I believe KDS has been closed for all leagues. You can e-mail me through tonight if you want to make a change. Sound good?
I'm not sure about draft spots just yet. Hopefully tomorrow.

Okay, another confirmation. There's a good chance at 12 or 13 teams right now, so this is looking more like a go. I'll reach out to the other owners the rest of the day and hopefully have this resolved soon. However, maybe we wait until Sunday to see if we can hit 15 before announcing draft slots. You never know!

Thank you, Greg. I thought it over. Too superstitious to change. I'll go with what I have entered. Thank you!

Guys, we have 11 owners committed to this third Ultimate Draft League, so it's definitely going to happen. I'm going to wait through the weekend to pick the draft spots for all three Ultimate Draft Leagues because there is an outside chance that we could get to 15 teams with this final league. There are four different owners considering this league right now.
Those who have already committed include:
1. Brent Grooms
2. Richard Kidd
3. Joseph Anello
4. Derek Briggs
5. Donn Johnson
6. Albert Petit
7. Shawn Johnson
8. Michael Pompinio
9. Sammy Zahler
10. Frank Heron
11. Scott Keikoan
At least one more will be coming and then we'll see how it plays out. Thanks everyone.

Third Ultimate Draft League
Guys, I know that all of you want your Ultimate Draft League spots today if possible, but we'll do these on Monday morning for all three leagues. The reason we need to do that is because we have 11 teams confirmed for this third Ultimate League and four teams inquiring about a spot in this league. If we miraculously filled another 15-team league, then we could guarantee full leagues in Las Vegas and New York and put the four cities together for a phone league. If not, the formats would look like this based on the first 30 guys getting into the two-15-team leagues:
13 LV, 1 Tampa, 1 CHI
14 NY, 1 Tampa
6 NY, 2 LV, 1 TA, 2 CHI (plus the last spots)
I know, it's very interesting, but let's get to 12 teams over the weekend and then finalize that last Ultimate League with draft picks on Monday morning.
Thanks for being patient.

We grabbed our 13th team today for the Ultimate League as Chris Hill and Nick Cassavettes will team up for a team in Las Vegas. Welcome aboard guys. There is one other team that has a strong interest in this league, so we'll see if we can get up to 14. One of our other interested teams can't do it now that weekend, so it looks like we might max out at 14, but that's still a great league. Here's the payout as of right now and the team owners:

Greg, didn't I predict about 2 months ago that you would fill 4 Ultimate leagues?
Awesome, man.
These Ultimate leagues have really taken on a life of their own. The entry fee is nearly 4x that of the main event. With 60 Ultimate teams, that's like 240 entries. From 0 to 240 in three years, while also going from 195 to 375. Mighty impressive!
Looking forward to the draft order tomorrow...

Will, e-mail me your Ultimate League KDS preferences by tomorrow morning. Same for Scott Keikoan. I wasn't able to sign up your teams yet and the KDS areas are locked there anyway. Just e-mail them to me at [email protected] and we'll work them into the random selections. Thanks everyone.
I believe everyone else in the Ultimate League 3 has set their preferences, but if you're not sure you can always just e-mail them to me. Thanks.
We'll crank these draft orders out tomorrow. I have to see about the 15th team though as that would allow us to change where some folks are drafting. Right now it's still uncertain exactly who is in what league. Wow, this is fun!!

Looking forward to the draft order tomorrow... I can honestly say that NEVER in my wildest dreams would I have imagined this happening in 2007. I'm glad we've been able to provide this format for our customers and I trust this area of our event will continue to evolve for baseball. But if I told you how many Ultimate teams I budgeted for this year you'd laugh. Well, that's one area you definitely don't want to overbudget for!!!

Poopy, if you're looking to steal Andre Ethier in the 7th round, you had better think again...

Not Ethier...although I do think he'll end up being my favorite Dodger in next year or two.
I haven't drafted many Dodgers this year. Fantasy wise, a lot of Duds!!! Just hope it doesn't translate that way on the way...looking for a "sum is more than the parts" type of team this year!

You could be right. The Dodgers excellent defense and clubhouse chemistry could easily overcome their lack of fantasy prowess

Just an FYI: Those aren't the draft picks above. Just possible league splits. Tom and I will pick the draft spots at 2 p.m. EST and announce them online shortly after that. It looks like we'll finish at 14 teams in the third Ultimate League.
